Port Forwarding on FTP protocol

I have forwarded FTP on a predefined external port, to port 21 internally. From outside network the connection gets established. It connects but it can’t complete the connection to list the folder and then drops due to time out. Again, it’s works on LAN instantly.

  • I heard that if the connection is established (FTP port 21 control port) the additional channels (ports) need by FTP to transfer data will be open dynamically. I believe Eero is not doing this. Can I ask is there any setting so that these additional ports be opened to transfer data?

When connecting to an FTP server on a LAN behind a Transport router, you will need to set up port forwarding so you can access the server from the internet. The PC needs to access the FTP server, the router is listening on port 2121 and the FTP server is accepting FTP connections on port 21.

Maind1985 Can you explain more in detail. I have set up port forwarding in the router from WAN side ( or external port) to LAN side (or internal port and to specific IP address). My old router worked like a charm. With Eero it did not happen. So, asking if there is any setting or option to configure.
