Block (Blacklist) certain websites

I need to have the ability to block certain websites in the profiles area. It would also be great to have the ability to whitelist certain sites as well.

Just reposting this link. We received 30 applicants so far. If you want to Beta test this feature, please fill out this survey before the end of the day on Sunday. We are going to reach out to testers on Monday!

Sieglock I am also interested to participate this beta test. Any chance to increase more beta tester? Also, what's the timeline to implement it? Really eager to have this feature can be implemented ASAP to help kids focus on right thing during the school hours.

Sieglock Just saw this today. Possible to be added to try this out? Circle by Disney is causing all kinds of issues so blocking things like YouTube and social media with my kids is SO important.

Just added my vote - this is probably the top feature requirement for me. The usecase that others have brought up about shutting access off to Youtube during school hours is the main one that applies to me. I can't withdraw access to computers or online access altogether as they are required in this pandemic - distance learning situation. I need more granular controls to either/both blacklist certain sites, and/or whitelist only school related sites. I don't have administrative control to install parental control software on school provided computers.

Was using Tether from TPLink and LOVED the granularity of the Parental Controls. Needed to be able to seamlessly boost the wifi signal around the house, so switched to eero, and while I got the wifi boost, I completely lost any granularity/specificity for site blocking, time limits, etc.  This is desperately needed, why has been over 3 years in coming ?

How long will beta testing last? Local schools just sent all my kids home again, probably until next year, I've gotta be able to shut down individual sites!

I would definitely not invest in the new Eero WiFi 6 if this is not implemented or allow to test it, and Black Friday offers are around the corner with better competitors for good mesh WiFi with real parental controls.

It’s been 3+ years of people asking for this and it’s still not available. What’s the hold up? This is a no-brainer. Very disappointed that I spent so much money on the latest release and I can’t do something so basic.

Sieglock I don’t think this quite hits the mark. I see YouTube Restricted blocks inappropriate videos BUT us parents want to COMPLETELY BLOCK YOUTUBE. For our family I would like to block YouTube during specific hours (i.e. during virtual school hours). The new feature still doesn’t stop my kids from watching Minecraft videos when they should be doing math schoolwork. How is the YouTube Restricted different than the Mature content filtering features we already had?

Jeniber YouTube Restricted is meant for younger profiles, where you don't mind them going on YouTube, but you don't want them to stumble upon something bad. By using the YouTube APIs, this is much more stringent than the previous Adult filters.

For your use case, you can block Streaming or Social Media (probably both) using the content filters. You can also add specific websites via the Block and Allow functionality.

As a follow-on project, the team is scoping how to schedule content filters and the specific allowed and blocked sites.

Sieglock Thanks a lot for the new features they exactly what must of us were looking for. Could you please check on the Block&Allow domains/sites modifications as I'm not able to change the profiles that are were added when a site is created (either remove a profile or add a new profile); so basically we need to either delete the site and added it again or move all the way to the home->profile and then delete the site from the profile. It should allow to do the same modification from Block&Allow sites.

Sieglock - On the scheduling content filters, my thought was to set up a second group and add the specific kid's devices to that second group. (Can't add devices to more than one group though.)  My thought was to have a general kids group - internet shut off at 9 PM and restrict mature content etc. Then a Todd in-school group where Todd's devices could be added to his group, and when he is finished with this homework the filter can be shut off. Then a Suzie group where I can add Suzie's devices and when she's done with her homework I can shut the time-wasting content filter off. That way Suzie is not punished for getting her homework done while Todd is still working on his. Then maybe have both automatically turn on at 9:01 PM right after the internet shuts down for the kids.

Kind of like nesting if statements.

A welcome feature! It would be great to be able to see what sites my kids are visiting and which are being blocked... and make them easily added to the black/whitelist. I rely on Circle Home Plus for this and it would be great to have just my Eero handle it.

Sieglock Hi, I can't see this feature on the app at all. Is only available for Eero Secure? If so, that is slightly annoying as it's not available outside the US.

Are we able to block specific sites for specific devices yet?  I just bought my eeros so I need to figure this out quick and return it if I can’t do it (unless there is something else I can add on).

I’ll even take having to block a website for all devices. I just need to block YouTube while my son is doing his homework. I’ve hunted around in the app and I don’t see a way to do this.

I don’t want to block anything else, just YouTube.

I see that was the original request three years ago so I’m guessing if it hasn’t happened it’s not happening?  Do I have other options better than returning my eeros.

my request is very specific. The ability to block a website or unblock a website whenever needed for a specific device.
