VPN options for Sever and Client.

Having the option for a VPN client connection would be great. With s curry and safety every network should be using a VPN.

Yes please, outbound VPN support (native VPN client) would be very nice! I'd also like to say for example I don't need this and that device to go through the VPN tunnel (for example Xbox).

+1 for native VPN support for all the reasons previously mentioned.  This needs to happen sooner than later given the current internet climate.

+1 for VPN support for so many different reasons.  Why would I not want to add another layer of security when I am on the internet?

In the meantime, I setup a Raspberry Pi with an OpenVPN server to provide VPN support. However, Eero does not support loopback NAT, so I had to configure the VPN in a way that allowed me to access the internal network resources, as if I was actually on the network, while connected to the VPN. I am looking forward to when Eero has better support for VPN on the network.

Please provide the ability to tunnel from my eero edge device to a third party VPN provider.

I wanted to add a few speculations as to why eero might be delayed on implementing OpenVPN:

To allow good quality speeds and service, the router handling the VPN must have a much more powerful CPU that normal routers. It is also preferable to have multi-core CPU for VPN protocols that can handle that (one core for encryption, another for standard routing functionality).

I purchased a Netgear R7000 for just this purpose and it worked great while it was my gateway (before I installed eero). Unfortunately I found out only after purchasing 6 eero devices that the eeros do not handle double-natting well at all, and very often drop packets, causing tons of issues with internet browsing. That forced me to remove my VPN router until I can find a solution.

All that being said, though, I would welcome an eero unit that was specifically developed with a powerful multi-core processor as a VPN gateway for the network. I would gladly purchase a single unit to act as my gateway. Optimally it would support multiple secure and performant VPN protocols, including IKEv2/IPSEC, OpenVPN, etc.

Net neutrality is in jeopardy, and like so many others mentioned, we need to do what we can to make it ineffective for our right to privacy to be taken from us.

    Thanks!

    ~Mike

PS: if anyone has found a solution to the double-natting issue with eeros (I would rather not put my eero in bridge mode, since I love the eero features), please let me know!

Outbound privacy in today's internet climate is really important. What I'd love to see, at a bare minimum is:

    -OpenVPN Support
-A mechanism to combat DNS leaks (Is this necessary if the router is handling the VPN?)
-A setting that, if activated, will push a notification to the Eero app and then kill WAN traffic until the user intervenes, should the VPN connection go down.

Another request for native VPN, please. Having to install SW on every client attaching to the network separately is not a very secure environment.

Also, encrypt.me  does not protect Chromebooks - encrypt.me has no Chromebook support, and there are a LOT (many millions and millions) of Chromebooks out there.

I get that Eero is looking for non-HW income streams, and options like Encrypt.me are linked to Eero Plus annuities they want to establish, but that can exist along-side an "expert/advanced" option for VPNs that allows more sophisticated users to stay w/Eeros while more effectively and responsibly managing our home security and privacy.

I have subscribed to Eero Plus, and am happy to retain that subscription even if only for VPN access while away from home, but I REALLY want a native VPN option on Eero.

I left Orbi for Eero due to current Orbi stability issues, but Netgear will work those out over time, and Orbi supports VPN, which will tempt me (and others) to move on from Eero.

I would also like to see the VPN handled by the Eero box.  If the Net Neutrality rollback survives, I think there will be a tremendous consumer demand for this VPN choice as Internet Service Providers (ISP) will now be able to charge different rates for access to different services such as Netflix, Amazon, etc. Having an Eero based VPN will frustrate the ISP's attempt to charge differently for different services as they won't be able to see who you are talking to other than Eero. As you can't run "Encrypt.me" on a Roku box, there has to be a network option otherwise ISP's will know who you are talking to.  This should be dead simple for the consumer to implement that is why a simple (Use VPN for Internet Services?) question would be a hit with the consumers.  And yes I'm willing to pay more for this.

And it would be nice if this VPN choice for mobile devices on the home Eero network would work with something like "Encrypt.me" so that if it sees the mobile device is working on the home network that is has encryption enabled, it doesn't bother encrypting the traffic.  Otherwise the mobile device encrypts.  But this is not as crucial as getting a network VPN choice implemented.

+1. I would join Plus if this was built into the device rather than me having to setup my own VPN gateway to route my networks traffic to Encrypt.me (or another VPN). i would also love to have a feature of determining which traffic goes through VPN and what doesn't, for example, I may not want Netflix or Amazon Video traffic to go through VPN but all other web traffic to be on VPN.

Encrypt.me should be native in the eero or allow other VPN to be native in eero. I love my eero but not being available to add a VPN in the eero has been sad and I'm looking other options of routers which I don't want too because I love my eero but my security is at risk.

+1 request for both native OpenVPN server support in order to connect to LAN from remote external networks, as well as separate VPN client support for outbound connections from LAN to protect/encrypt traffic and prevent ISP inspection (EG: Private Internet Access, Nord, TorGuard, etc)

A proper VPN server that I can setup, and use to connect to my local network when I am away - would be really nice.  Please use IPSec, and all the latest and more secure protocols, and if possible, a wizard to configure it easily!  In managing my network at home, I have had to become a bit of a network engineer.  While interesting and fun, I am now at the edge of what I can do, and really would like a simple user experience for this feature!
