Assign a device to a specific eero

I was recently going through my connected device list and noticed I have some of my devices connected to an eero which isn't the closest one to it.  Wouldn't it make more sense to bind a device to a specific eero?  For example, my Ring doorbell is maybe 10 - 15 feet from the closest eero but it is connected to one upstairs and further away.  Not sure if that would cause a QoS kind of issue but for stationary devices I don't see them moving from one eero to another (Nest products, Amazon Echo, Ring doorbell, etc.)

Yes, I still can't believe it's "UNDER CONSIDERATION" after all these years. Either do it or say you're not. This is really ridiculous.

So frustrating, why can’t we just have the option of restricting devices from accessing specific eeros to push them to connect to the ones that are in close range? Seems like that would be an “easy” way to fix the issue.

So I walked around with my iPhone and kept checking which eero node it was on as well as the download speed from fast.com. What I saw was it mostly did switch to a better node as I moved but sometimes got stuck on a node too long resulting in big drop in bandwidth. I could force a change by toggling airplane mode, it would then connect to a better closer node. It seems really obvious that you need a eero feature to disconnect a device from a node so that it tries to reconnect and find a better one…

I JUST (this week) purchased 2 of these, as it said it is a messed system .If this is truly a meshed system, auto load balancing should be a core feature. Otherwise this is simply an extender! So now that I know it is an extender, not messed, is the speed cut in half on both units (in a 2 unit system) by adding the 2nd unit ?  But back to load balancing, not only is auto not an option, but manual is not as well ? Can't we black list (not block) a mac address ? is a there a command line interface that we could access and do so ?

Hope eero can make this feature available soon.

It’s been 4 years, and they don’t know how mesh systems work. Brain drain after being bought by Amazon.

My cameras keep connecting to the node with the lowest signal! There’s a perfectly capable node in between.

Why make us wait for the ideal solution that is impossible to implement with current technology? Just let us block specific devices per router!

I have the same annoying issue. I have a Sonos setup around my TV with an eero pro standing next to them. All within 3 meters distance, no obstacles. Two Sonos speakers connect to the eero pro next to them but the other two connect to an eero pro in another corner of the house. Every once in a while I get connection problems with the Sonos speakers resulting in the music to pause for a few seconds. This is so frustrating because I can’t get the Sonos speakers to connect to the same eero pro. I rebooted all of them and the problematic ones do not pick up the eero next to them. Please give us a tool so we can fix these issues manually!

I have this problem as well. My Samsung TV gets connected to eero in the bedroom instead of the one in the hallway which is closer. I guess I am experience this more as both of my eero devices are too close to each other, but I have no other choice but to use more than one as my Wifi powerboards in the bedroom won't talk back to the Wifi router more than certain distance. It would have been a lot easier if I could assign certain devices or all devices part of a profile to always connect to specific eero devices

I just bought a extender and was looking for a solution for my ring camera. Now i am thinking of returning it  back to amazon as i can not connect my ring doorbell camera. it stays connected to the main eero no matter what i do. My phone is right next to the main router but connects to the extender. Years of complaints and eero finest technicians cant solve the problem that 90 percent of your customers have a issue with nor care to even read about or can because there are so many of the same comments over and over again. i just read these comments for a hour hoping to find a solution. but just saw disappointment after disappointment

PLEASE FIX THIS EVERYONE IS PRETTY MUCH BEGGING YOU AT THIS POINT WORD OF MOUTH WILL CATCH UP EVENTUALLY. YEARS OF COMPLAINTS GUYS COME ON. IF YOU WILL NEVER OFFER A SOLUTION TELL US SO WE CAN MOVE ON INSTEAD OF LEADING US ON WITH VAGUE RESPONSES.

Any status update for this issue? It's a very basic ask specially in this modern network mesh times.

I didn't initially have this problem, but it has recently become regular and made even surfing the internet untenable. My desktop is in a basement with an eero beacon ~7 ft away without obstruction, but my desktop is constantly jumping between that beacon and another two stories above. The weaker 2.4 Ghz signal is bad, but the constant loss of signal and "change of network" detected by sites and services is debilitating. No devices have been added to the network in between it working as intended and the bug appearing.

In addition to disconnecting/reconnecting, restarting the desktop, beacon resets, eero network resets, and modem + network resets, I've repositioned the upstairs beacon, activated/deactivated Client Steering, and adjusted my WiFi adapter settings. Other static devices without dedicated IPs are not experiencing the problem. One other device with a dedicated IP is experiencing the same problem, two stories above next to the other beacon. Other static devices with a dedicated IP are not experiencing this problem.

I realize that after 4 years and a new generation of products I'm just yelling into the void about this and don't ever expect to see this issue resolved with an update. For the next generation, please consider adding just one ethernet port to the beacons, as it would make solving this problem cheap and easy.

Sn0wlfake This definitely doesn't solve your problem, but there are offers for you to trade in a device and get a new one for a lower price. You could trade in the beacon and get a new $69 eero wifi router (the small ones with the Ethernet port). Your comment and many others here make me think that Eeros are less future-proof than I was expecting them to be when I invested in the system early on.

5 years and still nothing ? Eero team- you should be ashamed !
I was really happy and optimistic about Eerro ,  but my PC is connecting to extender that is 5m from PC giving me max 6MB/s download , meanwhile while connected to eero 6 (main router 9m from PC) i got full speed of 28MB/s ! Huge difference, but im not able to assign my PC to main router and enjoy full speed of my internet!  Have to keep resetting extender so PC is getting connected with main router.

Same issue here, I want to ensure that only stuff in my office connects to my office Eero, not all the stuff in the kitchen upstairs!

I have the same issue where my Harmony remote hub connects to a very remote eero and barely works.  Will get a closer one after I reboot it but a pain.  Need to assign to the one that is 20 feet away.  Upgraded to eero 6 and still same issue.

Hi Support team! We have all been having this same issue and to add a force function that allows a device to override and connect to a specific eero would be ideal. Please let us know the current status of this request as it has been open for several years!

    Thank you

I just bought 5 eeros to cover a huge house and connected 60+ smart devices (lights, switches ect) and most keep going offline because they are connecting to the farthest eero!! Come on eero team. I cannot keep resetting 60+ devices just to make them connect to a closest eero. Can you please at least provide a solution to this? I work in IT and words are spreading about this eero issue. You are losing customers!

At this point and 5 years, 3 generations and owned by Amazon, they aren’t fixing this issue. I voted in this topic with my wallet.

I have switched to Ubiquiti and haven’t looked back. These issues aren’t an issue any longer.

if anyone is interested in 4 gently used eero 6 pros with box and packaging, reach out via email at david@steinyd.org

Yea, I am still waiting. My generator will go offline because the signal is so bad, even though I have an AP 5 feet inside the wall. It is connected to the AP in the kitchen on the other side of the house. This is ridiculous.
