Assign a device to a specific eero
I was recently going through my connected device list and noticed I have some of my devices connected to an eero which isn't the closest one to it. Wouldn't it make more sense to bind a device to a specific eero? For example, my Ring doorbell is maybe 10 - 15 feet from the closest eero but it is connected to one upstairs and further away. Not sure if that would cause a QoS kind of issue but for stationary devices I don't see them moving from one eero to another (Nest products, Amazon Echo, Ring doorbell, etc.)

This is currently the most voted for feature request that has not already been implemented or rejected. Come on eero - make it happen.

Yea, I am still waiting. My generator will go offline because the signal is so bad, even though I have an AP 5 feet inside the wall. It is connected to the AP in the kitchen on the other side of the house. This is ridiculous.

What the 4311? How can this not be solved yet. I have now resorted back to a hardline because my work machine keeps connecting to the furthest away pod!
My speeds when connected to the closest eero are 456 down and 35 up but my machine keeps connecting to my daughters pod downstairs and across the house for 80 down and 15 up (on a good day). Seriously, I have been working remote since 2008 and after getting this eero system it has just been an 'f-n' struggle.
Sorry, Usually I am much more poised than this, but my meeting today was beyond a disaster due to eero connections.
eero- are you going to respond to any of us? -
Yep. I bought a single Pro 6E to replace by current gateway eero (Pro 6) when it was on sale for Prime Day. Still in the box as I investigate alternatives (leaning towards Ubiquiti). I have been hoping to see something from eero stating "Yes - we are going to make this available. It is priority #X with a target date of mo/yr." It would be even nicer if they would tell us on what they are working that is a higher priority and why. I put this over the browser interface issue - but it is definitely #2.

5 years and still no solution. UNBELIEVABLE. I registered here only to say i regret so much spending $700 to buy this garbage Eero router. It was supposed to be one of the best but it doesn't even connect to the nearest access point! This is ridiculous!!!
I'm typing this outdoor from my laptop, my kitchen Eero is 6 feet away but my laptop is currently connected to the farhest away one. I just did a speedtest and i got 0.68mbps RIDICULOUS!!!! I connected to kitchen Eero and did another speedtest then I get over 200mbps. Literally 200 times the speed!!
I noticed that software maintenance is a big amazon-wide problem. I have over 100 alexa devices and there are so many missing features in the app it's unbelievable. It almost never gets updated. Amazon doesn't care about feature requests, they don't listen to their customers they just want to take your money. I bet the dev team is very underfinanced to cut costs and that's why the software sucks. They release a product then they don't care anymore and already start working on the next version to make more sales.
I will never buy an Amazon product again. I'm switching to Google Home and Ubiquiti. Good riddance Amazon.
VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. Eero is a waste of money. High-end router missing basic features is a big no. I wish I found this thread before buying.

0.81mbps speed test with Eero Pro 6 with a wifi6 laptop sitting 6 feet away from the nearest Eero.

WOW! SUCH FAST SPEED! VERY IMPRESSIVE!! THANKS AMAZON!!! -
I just came across the same problem as well. 3 eero Pro6 in the house. Static devices like Google TV or Ring Pro doorbell or Nuki bridge. Everything is jumping arround all 3 partly like a rabbit and for whatever reason prefer the one most far away. Specific for my doorbell is a Desaster if I don’t get a notice Someone ring. After read here up down it seems I can stop thinking about get it fixed and mostly go for other System then. 5 years without proper solution is far beyond of what you should wait for this kind of expensive device.

I wish I had found this thread before spending nearly $700 on what is supposed to be a "State of the Art" system Seems nothing has been done in nearly 5 years.
Same issue here, I have devices that connect to the furthest away eero, not cool.
Extremly dissapointed in my new eero syste.

I can't believe that this request has been 5 years in the making? There are way too many people that are having the same issue with the clients, you would think that eero would step up and implement this feature. Especially since eero is owned by Amazon and the Amazon devices are the biggest culprit of having this issue.

My generator will always be in the same place in the backyard, as will my outdoor weather station, as will my light bulbs in each room...so eero needs a feature that allows each of these to be assigned to a specific access point, and eero needs a process that helps a device to find and connect to that preferred access point.
If there is an outage, of course each device will attempt to connect to any eero that's available regardless of whether it's the designated access point. In these instances, the eero that receives the request to connect should run a check to confirm whether it is the preferred/designated access point for that device - if not, it should refuse the connection and attempt to redirect it to the preferred access point. If the preferred access point is not available, there should be a cyclical process that "helps" the device find and connect to the preferred access point.
There are so many posts here from the past 5 years I'm not sure whether (or how many times) this idea has been repeated.

Yes, yet another person requesting this feature. It seems ridiculous that this is not an option yet...

I have the same problem. Need the ability to set a preferred/default/fixed node for any device. When will this come out?!
-
I’ve replaced my eeros with TP-Link Deco. Better price with better performance. They resolved my frustrations with eeros. Their app have a feature that allows you to disable roaming on a specific device which will prevent it from jumping into different nodes. It’s very helpful for smart devices that doesn’t really change locations.
-
I need this feature! I use iDevices smart home switches and recently upgraded to eero Pro 6E routers from eero 2nd Gen routers, and iDevices list eero 6 / Pro 6 (and I assume Pro 6E) routers as "known to be incompatible"... I still have my 2nd Gen routers, and I could set one up and just point all of my iDevices at that one older router so they would work again.
Please! -
I have a firetv in my bedroom, an Alexa on each night stand, and a beacon in clear line of sight from all devices.
Half the time I watch tv, the sound cuts out. Why is this? Either my firetv, or one of the Alexa’s will connect to the eero device in my living room instead of bedroom, and my audio from whatever I’m watching will cut out.
It is mind blowing that Amazon could acquire Eero, and it works so poorly with Amazon devices.
Assigning a device to a eero device would at least solve this issue for me.

I have a wireless Canon printer that is constantly reconnecting to the furthest Eero 6e (of 4) in the house instead of the Eero 6e in the same room. Printing is dreadfully slow because of this. I can get it to connect to the closest Eero 6e, but when I return the next day (without powering down anything overnight) it's connected to that far Eero 6e again.

Bumping this yet again, really unhappy this still hasn’t been fixed, the solution suggested doesn’t work for anyone and you would have thought after 5 years that it would be a piece of functionality that would be easily included. Am probably gonna have to scrap my entire eero system as have 1 problem room that has its own node but the devices connect to it 50% of the time and the rest of the time completely ruin my viewing experience by connecting to the one furthest away. Would not recommend anyone buys this product if they care so little about their customers
-
This is a valid requirement neglected by Eero for 5+ years! When the eeros reboot, the stationary devices latch to the first eero that boots. We have no way to change that, and like others have said, its not easy to reboot certain devices like cameras, sensors etc.
-
TIME TO DROP EERO COMPLETELY!!!
Hit them where it hurts- in the wallet. And maybe they’ll finally listen (after over 5 years of politely asking)!
SPREAD THE WORD!
-
Can we PLEASE get this done? There are numerous requests for this and it just seems to be something that would be a no brainer to do.
-
Not that it will do any good, but I'm another person with this same problem. Bought multiple APs in hopes of getting a good signal in the back of my home, but all devices in the back continue to connect to the main Pro 6e, the farthest away device, and completely ignore the AP 8' from them.

This is an issue that is near and dear to my heart and needs to be resolved or I’ll have to find another system to fit my needs. I have dozens and dozens of things connected to my Eero system but one thing in particular, my Xbox Series X console, is hungry for data. Where the gateway Eero is connected to my router is about 10 feet away, just above in my bedroom. When playing online I get lag sometimes, which I’ve never had this problem before with a Nighthawk router. When I get I lag I go to the Eero app and every time it shows that the Xbox has chosen to connect to the kitchen or den Eero extenders that are 20-30’ away. It ticks me off. So I have to disable the kitchen and den to force to the Xbox to connect to the gateway and the lag is solved. Until, of course, it disconnects from the closest Eero and connects to one that is farther away and has a slower signal. This is really really dumb. I know the technology exists to fix a MAC address to a certain gateway or extender. Let’s get this done.
