0How does Eero's guest network work?
Im looking to use a 3rd party firewall and layer 3 switch with my eero's in bridged mode. Can someone explain what method eero uses to isolate its guest network? Is it just separate VLAN with firewall rules...if so? what plan does it make? I know that is how the airport's work and sets them to VLAN 1003.

According to the eero developer on the eero subreddit they do not use VLAN isolation, but instead they use MAC address isolation.

What firewall are you thinking of running ?
This doesn't quite address your question but is in the general area... Was running a Cujo firewall with eero in bridge mode. Ran ok but Cujo blocked a few good sites (local newspapers) and got about 30-40 warnings a week, mostly adbots. Removed it and am now using eero Plus. It's stopped a few malicious websites so far.
Was using Cisco managed switch in past but since I'm not a network guy like my good collaborator cMoo92 , went back to unmanaged Cisco switch.

interesting. so I shouldn't need to create anything and still have guest wifi work. The interesting part is that eero will still do DHCP for the guest network and we have no control over that.

right now I have a Ubiquiti Edge Router Lite im setting up, but ive also been playing with an ASAv. Im not a network engineer, but have a pretty decent network background and work with our network team pretty much everyday. Brushing up on the hands on components.
