Nest Cam Outside Intermittent Connections

I just installed a Nest Cam Outside but found I had no connectivity to my wifi.  The cam is about 75 feet from my ATT Uverse router.  I was told that the EERO home Wi-Fi would do the trick.  I setup my router for IP passthrough.  I placed the EERO beacon in my garage which is about 60 feet from the base and 15 feet to the outside Nest Cam.  I am now getting intermittent connectivity issues with the Cam.  The street traffic (cars, bicyclists) are moving "herky jerky" (is that a phrase?).  This morning, I lost all connectivity to the Nest Cam for about 45 minutes.  Any ideas?  Thank you!

  • Hi, gman_94521 – thanks for taking the time to reach out, and welcome to the eero community! I'm sorry to hear you're having some trouble with the Nest Cam. Many of our customers use Nest products just fine with no issue, so I'm sure we can get to the bottom of this and get the matter sorted for you.

In this situation, since some troubleshooting is likely necessary so we can make sure the eero is operating as it should be and providing a strong signal to the Nest, so I'd encourage you to give us a call at 877-659-2347 or shoot an email to support@eero.com and we'll reply back ASAP and look into this to your satisfaction!

    Kindly,
    Drew, eero Community Team

  • I’ve had a couple 14 mins disconnects in past day since I got the 3 eeeos. I find that having ExpressVPN helps avoid the blue circle that shows when there are delays. Almost as if the iPad on which I watch the cams can’t handle th incoming traffic. Seems ok on my wired iMac.

  • Had a few very brief disconnects of 3 of 4 outdoor Nest cams this morn, all at same time. Very brief, but noticeable in the cam timeline. Nest cams have been super stable for past month though, so I'm figuring some kind of brief interference that eero had to deal with. I find the outdoor cams to be susceptible to weak wifi, especially since the cams are up near the aluminium eavestroughs and window shutters. Not eero's fault - it's more about placement is things that might have hard time connecting under certain conditions. (I find LIFX bulbs excellent but.... at least one per days disobeys :)
