Number next to icon on iPad

Once in a while I'll see a number beside my eeco app on my iPad.  When I open the app, there's nothing that's obviously connected to that number...  no messages etc.  What does the number mean?  I can't find the answer to this simple question anywhere...

  • If i was to guess, it would be a notification of a device connecting to the eero network that hasn’t been used for a while. As such, you get what appears to be a new device iOS notification badge on the icon, but nothing when you open the app.

I’ve had this a couple of times, and it tends to be something like my kindle which isn’t getting much use this year.,

  • Thanks for your reply.  I'll keep an eye out for this too.  Sounds like it could be my Kobo.

  • I see the same thing.  Frequently I'll see a notification number next to the eero app on my IOS device.  Like you, when I open the app, the app does not tell me why it generated the notification.  It would really be nice to know why eero generates a notification in the first place.  If you're interested in knowing what's joining and leaving your network, I use the Fing network app for that.  Unlike eero, the Fing app does a great job of alerting me to what's joining and what's leaving my network.  Using the eero and Fing apps together, there's not much going on with my network that I don't know about.  However, it still would be nice to know why my eero app issues a notification.
