Wired connection between 2 eero devices

Hi everbody,

I have a questions regarding the possible network topologies.

Is it possible to have the following setup:

(Internet Router) ---Cable--- (eero#1) - - - Wireless - - - (eero#2) ---Cable--- (eero#3)

eero#3 is about 100m away in this setup and will not have a wifi connection to one of the other eeros.

In my eero App eero#3 will never show up in this configuration. Is this setup not possible or am I doing something wrong?

Best Regards

Florian

It's completely possible.  Try another cable between #2 and #3.

    Hello Florian ,

Yes this will work. Just keep in mind that unless the Internet Router is in bridge mode, your eero network will be in a double NAT state. eeros can work in double NAT just fine, mine has been in double NAT for a year without any problems at all. However, some devices can have problems if they are connected to a network that is in double NAT. We generally recommend that the Gateway eero be connected to a stand alone modem or a bridged modem router combo to avoid any possibly problems with devices that do have trouble with networks in double NATs.

Thanks txgunlover and James for your fast answers.

OK, I indeed have a very bad connection/cable between #2 and #3 but it is not easy to exchange this cable. When i plug in my computer on the other side, I only get a 10mBit connection showing up. Might that be an issue or should the eero be capable of that low bandwidth?

I will check if its possible to switch the mode of my router anyways and will report the result.

      Hello Florian ,

Slower speeds are not going to cause a problem with the eero really. If that is your only option, it will work. In order to get an idea of some of the services you'll be able to use with 10 Mbps you can review our article below to help you determine if you want to rerun that ethernet cord or call a contractor to see if they can repair it.
