HW: LTE or 5G internet (as backup or primary) in standalone eero
The ring alarm pro introduces LTE backup for Eero. (https://www.theverge.com/2021/9/28/22692073/ring-alarm-pro-amazon-event-release-date-specs-price-features)
I'd love for a future Eero product to incorporate a LTE or 5G modem, to be used as backup (or even primary) internet connection. Preferably with a SIM slot, so I can add a "data-only tablet line" to my current plan, but alternatively (and less-preferred) with the same backup LTE pricing as available through the Ring Alarm Pro.
There is a 0% chance I'd personally buy the ring alarm pro because that's not a product I'm interested in, but I'd love to see cellular backup enter eero ecosystem regardless. I've had enough internet outages through the pandemic-era that I would instantly buy this.
A more general purpose solution for WAN failover might be to use an existing Ethernet port on eeros for a second WAN connection. That presumably is just a firmware update. And there are ways to hook up hot spots or mobile phones to provide Ethernet with a Wi-Fi bridge (hardwired is more challenging). Some routers even provide "WiFi as WAN" where the router uses its Wi-Fi to connect with a hotspot to access the Internet. You see "WiFi as WAN" used in RV parks.
