Auto-discover HomeKit devices

I’d like to see a feature where after enabling HomeKit in the app/account, it auto-discovers HomeKit devices already on the network and adds them automatically. After that, it should also periodically check and add HomeKit devices.

  • I think it already does that. Look under Home (click upper left home icon in home app) ->Networks and it lists the hubs it found. I may be wrong on the name "networks" since I already had to disable the HomeKit integration but you'll see something there where it shows the Eero discovered devices. The only devices it probably cares about are the hubs and it discovered all 5 of mine without me having to do anything. I was confused in the beginning and removed and re-added one of my Ecobee thermostats but that wasn't needed it seems. I'd like them to remove the add HomeKit device option from the app because it's confusing and duplicates the Home application functionality.

russw  you’re right, it doesn’t. I was misled initially by seeing the add button in the eero gui. It turns out it HomeKit dies it in tge Home app. Thanks!

ak Yeah, confusing, isn't it? I just added a feature request to remove that functionality. Please comment on it and/or up vote it :)

ak Guess we need to make a feature request to delete/ignore a feature request. This one illustrates the cost of a confusing workflow and/or app feature so probably don't want to fully delete the feature request. Developers should be reading through stuff like this so they know the issues customers are running into.
