DFS for eero's in bridge mode

When In bridge mode these eeros – as I understand it – act just like access points.

So I fail to see why each eero can’t have an interface to either set the frequency band manually OR use the DFS algorithms or something similar, to inspect and determine which band EACH eero should be placed on for their respective areas.

one example: Ubiquity products do this. You can RUN a RF scan from each AP and determine interfering bands, THEN you can set the least crowded band For that AP.

Don’t get me wrong I enjoy the simplicity of the Eero,. But I am hearing customers' complaining about intermittent/transient performance issues over WIFI.

This indictive of channel crowing. Using WIFI analyzer on an andrioid phone you can see it. You shouldn't have to live it. the eero is smart enough to configure around it not add to the problem.

  • eeros have to be on the same channel so they can communicate with each other and pass data over the wireless links. Sure you may have all your eeros wired in, but then there is no failover in case one of those ethernet backhauls fails or gets unplugged.

If all you're using to check channel utilization is an Android phone then you likely won't make better choices than the existing ACS algorithm in eero.

that sort of makes sense. but i am still

concerned u are not choosing a channel that could be more clear.

i can see other neighboring wifis on the same channel. when there sre quieter channels available

rogerss2010 it’s easy to forget the unlicensed spectrum used for Wi-Fi isn’t exclusive to Wi-Fi. If you and all your neighbours networks have all picked the same channel it’s likely due to some non-wifi interference that is obliterating the other channels.

The best way to make informed channel decisions is with a raw spectrum analyzer. Lucky for you eero does exactly that in the background, distributed throughout each day, to pick its channel plan.

    • rogerss2010 so why cant eeros in bridge mode do this as well?

      whats the limitation there?

rogerss2010 txgunlover correct. Bridged eeros currently do no have ACS, due to their inability to guarantee communication between all nodes on a network to coordinate changes.

Bridged eeros still have the TrueMesh and ANI capabilities though.
