Are eero systems going the handle WiGig 802.11ad standards as they roll out?
Hi belgaran —
Welcome to the eero community and thanks for your question!
802.11ad requires specific hardware that isn't built into eero.
We greatly appreciate the feedback, and I'll be sure to pass it along to our team.
Biggest problem with 892.11 ad is that it has a range of less than 8 feet. For mobile devices like laptops, phones, and tablets, 802.11ad is also very power intensive, causing massive battery drain, and 802.11ad chipsets generate almost 3x as much heat as others do, which is a major safety issue with phones, tablets, and laptops.
Jeff C. Thanks
Richard1864 Thanks for the info. I was pretty much aware of the 802.11ad shortfalls, but wanted to see what planning, if any, was being done for future iterations of the eero system. Thanks again.
