Support for the Desktop
I'd like to have the ability to manage eero from a desktop. The phone apps were well thought out, and work well. However, having the ability to do this from my laptop/desktop would be very useful for me anyway. Either browser or (for me) a Windows 10 UWP would be awesome!
Having over 90 devices, many which require port forwarding and DHCP rules, it would be handy to have a desktop application or access from a web browser to enter these rules. Thank you.
Another vote for a "desktop" app. Actually, I'd prefer a web app. Run a scaled down web server on the eero's. Only allow access to the web app from machines that are connected to the eero--at least for the first release. You've already implemented APIs that the mobile app is using to access and configure the router. Just build a simple web app interface that talks to the same APIs. Should be a quick win with minimal security risk. Another checkbox you can check off.
I agree a web app would suffice. I login to sometimes control my Nest via a web browser and it's very convenient. The web is platform agnostic and avoids app stores, developer issues, etc..
Don't know what the comments about browser plug-ins (and other comments about what's coming) are based in. I haven't had flash or java plugins on my computer for a long time now, and the web admin interfaces that I've used (mainly Asus and Netgear) continue to work just fine. There seems to be a lot of misinformation here, and predictions that have not come to pass.
I appreciate the statement up front from the eero employee that eero has no plans to put resources into creating a web admin interface, that's why there isn't one. While I'd really like to see more home based admin ability that's independent of the cloud for those who would like to use that, I understand that's not how eero evolved. So I'll get the value out of the cloud-based phone interfaces (not even one that looks decent on a tablet like an iPad, where the larger amount of screen real estate would allow more information per screen), and wish that there was a web admin UI. So it goes.
Jeff Is Richard1864 an eero employee? If so, could you replace this playful "heero" by something straightforward like "eero employee"?
I need to get back at the web interface. I am so annoyed by not being able to look at my network on my desktop PC.
Can we have a web interface on our local eero please?
Works great now, keep it the way it is, thanks.
omnicoreinc Dude heed your own advice and get over it. The thread is a feature request, not a feature debate. I agree with you there is nothing wrong with the current system all I want to to do is run the app on my desktop within my network. I love how my eero works but I have fat fingers, bad eyes, and I can type faster on my keyboard. But I gave up on this feature a long time ago and so should you.
Hi everyone —
It looks like over the last 24 hours this thread has escalated quite a bit...
This is a feature that has had much debate in the past. While we have marked it as Not Planned, things can change, so we encourage anyone with an interest to continue to vote on this feature.
While we understand that in a community people will differ in opinion, this space should never be used to speak negatively to others. Nor should anyone feel they cannot share their opinion on feature requests (whether or not something is currently marked in a certain way).
We have a strict set of community guidelines, and failure to follow these may result in a removal from our community:
Treat others with respect
This is the most important rule of participating in the eero community. This is not a space to treat others rudely—that behavior simply won't be tolerated. Everyone should feel welcome to share their feedback, ideas, and any issues they may be having. But if you can’t add anything productive to the discussion, please don’t say anything at all.
If you have any specific concerns, please feel free to email email@example.com and I'll be happy to take a look. If you haven't yet, please review our community guidelines linked out to above.
