Support for the Desktop

I'd like to have the ability to manage eero from a desktop.  The phone apps were well thought out, and work well.  However, having the ability to do this from my laptop/desktop would be very useful for me anyway.  Either browser or (for me) a Windows 10 UWP would be awesome!

  • Added my vote to this. Very frustrating not having a desktop app or web-based access to my Eero system. I also don't like not being able to access the logs...

  • I just side loaded the app from my iPad to my Mac using M1. Presto! 🤣

  • Dear Eero: At the very least, for those with a M1 Mac running MacOs 11 could you allow your iOS app to install on an M1 machine.  Since this would be the iOS app running under MacOS there should be no security issues over and above managing the network on an iPhone and would require no/minimal work on your part.

  • My M1 Mac is supposed to be able to run IOS apps.  Why can't I use the Eero app on my desktop?  Is there some security reason or?  Not everyone wants to use their phones and tablets to access the Eero app.

  • Again I agree. I feel like Eero is dragging there feet on this. They should allow M1 Mac users the ability to install iOS app on there machines to manage their network. Don’t know why this hasn’t already been done by now. Smh.

  • Well, how incredibly disappointing. I was so excited to get my new eero pro system set up. But no ability to manage from anything except my phone, web, or windows 10 APP, is definitely a deal-breaker. Thank goodness I saved my boxes. Returning and going back to a more manageable solution. I truly am disappointed that the NUMBER 1 feature request is being so blatantly ignored by the developer. Will get my $600 refund and take my money to a competitor. It really is a shame. The system was super easy to set up, it is definitely faster. But lack of controls for those of us who are smart enough to manage our own networks and lack of a viable management platform makes this a worthless device, at least to me. Too bad all those wonderful reviewers failed to mention these glaring limitations.

  • Adding my name to +1 for this. It is really hard to understand how this is still not planned. How many views and replies and votes are required for this to receive adequate attention?

  • Probably an infinite number.  When I purchased my first Eero system the company was a small start-up with a personal touch and probably would have gotten round to doing it.  Now it is owned by Amazon.  I don't think they would pay attention to this issue unless they felt it would put them at competitive disadvantage to other mesh network makers.  It would take tens of thousands of complaints to even get on their radar screen.

  • Yeah, at this point it's just a pride issue to not "have plans" to add browser support as an option.  There are at least a few HUGE reasons to add it and everyone has already mentioned them in the current, 364 votes on this.

I came here looking for the desktop version to use with my MacBook Pro. How shocking it was to find that there isn't one.

    • JC9091 the most frustrating thing is that if you have an M1 Mac, all they would have to do would be to allow their existing iOS app to be available through the Apple Store where it could run natively.  They could even include a disclaimer that they won't guarantee it works.  If it does not work, however, minimal tweaks should allow it to do so.   There would be none of the security concerns they cite about making a dedicated MacOS desktop app or a Windows app or a web-site available to all desktop users on any platform.  Anyway, thanks for adding our vote.  Back when Eeero was a small start-up company they would have responded by now either with a product or a good explanation of why it is impossible for them to make apps for operating systems other than iOS or Android.  Since they are now owned by Amazon, don't hold your breath!

EthanW6258 I do have an M1 Mac…a MacBook Pro M1 Max. It’s ridiculous that this functionality isn’t available. Now I’m regretting my Eero purchase.

  • How can this still be the case?!? I just got the Eero Pro 6 and need to copy IP and mac addresses for use on my laptop. Seriously supposed to transcribe from my f'ng phone?!

Here's the extra special bonus - THEY HAVE A WEB INTERFACE ALREADY but only available to registered custom installers. The Remote Network Management (RNM) interface here - https://blog.eero.com/ci_remote_network_management/

Give me a break Eero. Give your customers THE BASIC tool for configuration EVERY OTHER ROUTER HAS, not a mobile app ffs.

  • The Owners at eero and Amazon simply just do not care. I loathe this about them. I also loathe that I have to disable HomeKit security for my Thermostat, because eero refuses to play nice with ecobee. To do that I must go to the stupid POS app to do anything with the router. What a bloody pain in the ass! I read a post herein falsely claiming that all other manufacturers will be ditching IP web/desktop interfaces within a few months to do the same as eero because web interfaces are insecure and damage routers. 😜😂😆 seriously I’d like to know what that bloody moron poster was smoking!? Who wants to begin a class action lawsuit??

  • Got tired of waiting and actually found a way to circumvent both Eero and Apple. Eero app for iOS running on my M1 MacBook Pro. Notice the date is today in the top right corner. Used a decrypted ipa file and a program called sideloadly and presto!

      Eero M1 Install Instructions

Go to iosgods.com —> download and install sideloadly and install.

Go to https://www.playcover.me click on the discord icon and join their server. Go to the decrypted ipa channel and find the eero app and download. Use sideloadly to install that ipa to your Mac.

  • Frontier came in and installed 2 of the Eero units with my fiber install the other day.

As a Net Sec Eng with over 25 years of experience, I was shocked to read this forum post:

    1. Only a Phone App????? And they think its so cool to do it this way????? Sounds like a company too lazy to design their device management the correct way considering mobile phones are becoming the primary targets for exploitation. No competent supplier to businesses would ever just rely on just one method of device management even if the one managing the device is a home user.

    2. Mobile phone is exploited and cant be used. Now you cant even check if the Eero devices on your network have been modified either. Or even shutdown your work/home network because it is compromised. Sounds like a perfect attack to me.

    3. Mobile phone connections are down or you are in a dead zone and little Suzie and Bobby are home and have an issue with the wireless network. Now they can't do their homework or can't play their games. Don't want to be the Dad in that family situation.

This is only 3 of the situations I could think of in the 5 min I gave to this post. I get paid to think of all possible situations where there would be an issue with only one way to manage network devices. I could stay here all day and write many, many more however I don't have that kind of time nor is Eero paying me to do that.

What I do see here is a total disregard for basic everyday Risk Management by Eero of their customers networks and I will be returning these devices with poor device management to Frontier. I will also report my findings to Frontier for review by their own Risk Management team, if they have one. My guess is that they do not as they would not have bought these devices if they did.

  • It's been five (5) years since the original inquiry. Has the idea of a web interface resurfaced? It may not seem important to Eero engineers, but to your customers, at least this one, it really is.  If that even matters... 😉

    Thanks for your consideration.

  • Please, this seems like a critical feature to be able to log into your router! People who want basic features have those - please allow more advanced users to have the option!

the202 Yeah, everyone knows exactly what's happening in the future. Predictions about the future, in general, are worth what you pay for them. Assuming that they're free, that is.

The other side of the coin is that whatever you say on the internet is there forever...so that should be considered when posting :-).

Love the Asus web admin interface, by the way. It's a marketing tool for them. Smart phone app isn't bad, either, but not as organized as their web interface.
