Feature request: Dedicated iPad app

You need to update the Eero app to be a Universal app and improve the display to better handle iPad-sized screens. Once I went past 3 Eeros (currently have 7), I need to horizontally scroll to see all the Eeros.

  • Hi, y’all —

This is Drew with the eero Community team. We’re excited to share that with eero app version 2.23, available today, we have introduced native iPad support!

With our iPad version, we are introducing a new unique layout that takes full advantage of the increased screen size, and we think you’ll find it a breeze to navigate and use.

We want to thank everyone for your continuous feedback and contributions to this thread and the greater eero community. It really makes a difference, not just for those here, but for everyone that uses eero.

The activity here hasn’t gone unnoticed, and while we were tempted to share more as new posts came in, we had to wait until the official release. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we’ve worked towards building this new way to experience eero.

Again, we’d just like to share our thanks for all your ideas and insights, and for voicing your support for different features. Since launching the community, requests have been pouring in, and our team is continually evaluating this feedback with what to build next.

    We hope you enjoy!

Drew thanks Drew and crew. Awesome.  It runs in landscape mode. Yessssss. Interesting to find out that Apple TV had ads blocked. Didn’t even know it was subject to ads !  Looking good, eero.

Drew Again, Thanks for knocking this out.  I know I have been a vocal critic because of this, but this will make life a lot easier for those of us using the iPad as a primary device, and hopefully make it more palatable for folks who that is their only device.  I haven't had a lot of time to explore it, but it looked nice on the new iPad and will make life easier.

Thanks again for putting in the effort to knock this out.

  • Hi  JimNiemann

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the eero community!

We appreciate the feedback. At this time, we don't have plans on an iPad version of the eero app, but it may be something we look to build down the road. I'm happy to share this feedback with our team.

    Thanks again!

  • Jeff,

I would like to echo Jim's suggestion of an updated universal app.  More and more people are relying on mobile devices (cellular devices, and tablets).  Apple specifically is pushing the iPad Pro as a desktop replacement.  Having a universal app which is pleasant to view on larger tablets would be a very welcome addition.

  • I too would like to see an iPad app. I use my iPad as a "hub" for a lot of my home automation and network maintenance apps.

  • I too would LOVE a combined binary.

The added 'real estate' of an iPad would be most welcomed.

  • Unfortunately, this is marked as "not planned".  Hopefully, there are a few iPad users at EERO who will agree that this would be a welcome addition.

  • Thanks everyone for the continued feedback! While a dedicated iPad isn't planned at this time, we will continue to monitor interest. Thanks again!

  • Jeff C. That's unfortunate. Apple makes it exceedingly easy to write universal apps and they scale well on all devices. Luma's iPad app isn't perfect, but it is universal. I hope Eero changes its stance on this.

  • Jeff C. Thanks.  With Apple's universal binaries now, the team should be able to make this update relatively easy.  I think they would be surprised just how many eero users would utilize their iPads for this.

  • Just updated to the newest iOS app, and it's a radical change.  Still very surprised with everything that the developers are trying to do in the app that a universal app isn't planned.

Would it be possible to gain some insight as to why?

I ask because I have several friends who I have shown my units and they purchased.  However, they hate (and so do I), running a non native app on the iPad.

Not everyone enjoys using the small space on a phone as a primary device.

  • Thanks for checking in,  rcooked 👋

I'm happy to update that an iPad version of the eero app is something we are considering for future releases. There isn't a timeline, but should there be any updates, we will absolutely update this thread.

I have changed the status of this thread from Not Planned to In Review.

  • As a new customer I was surprised that this was not even done from the beginning. So another vote from me!

  • An Eero iPad app that takes advantage of the increased screen size is long overdue. There is no reason not to provide this.

  • I don't have an iPhone. But, I do have an iPad. I use the eero app. It would be nice to see the four eeros I have.

  • Please add my vote to this request! Come on guys, you have such s good system so don’t skimp on the user experience/user interface (UX/UI). I think you would be surprised by how many users have tablets these days...

  • Just chiming in again on the ease of this with Apple’s universal binaries.  Looks like iPad usage is growing with iOS 11.  With more and more folks using iPads, this seems like a complete no brainer at this point.

Keep voting this up folks, the more we request, the likelier to see implementation.

rcooked Got to agree and I really hope this is under serious consideration. Right now you get the impression it is an old out of date app as most modern apps support all iOS devices.

rcooked if the system did not work as well I would have sold it and jumped to one of the other makes....I am still considering that very strongly. It just irks me that Eero choose to ignore this simple request. Going to do some research on other mesh networks now...

  • I'm shocked, shocked, to find this does not already exist. Just purchased my eero set and I don't own a apple or android phone. Shockingly I own a Windows phone;), can't bring myself to lose the great metro tiles.

  • So true. I install a lot of Sonos and Lutron RadioRa2 and all these customers seem to have iPads which is a much better way to use the apps. I bought a used one so I would know my way around the apps;).The same would hold true for eero, the small screen of a phone is a dumb limitation.
