Eero obtains incorrect External IP after update

After the most recent update (6.1.1-14), the Eero at one of my 3 sites is experiencing a strange issue. The latest update killed port forwarding. This has happened with 2 other updates in recent months, however, the new problem is a bit different, in that the Eero is reporting an incorrect External IP.  All the devices on the local network report the External IP correctly, except the Eero.  I have rebooted the modem and Eero with no effect.  At the suggestion of Eero tech support, I reconfigured the Eero for a static IP using the correct IP. That only made matters worse, as then the Eero app couldn't even see the system as online any longer, plus it wiped my entire configuration, without warning.
The ISP has no suggestions beyond a vague comment about an NAT issue. Eero tech has been of no help. Anybody have ideas beyond hoping that the next firmware update fixes it?

On a side note, I just noticed that the update history omits very important information.  It installed 6.1.1-x? on Jan 7, and updated to 6.1.1-14 today, but history ONLY shows the last update as Jan 7, and it omits the subversion.  How are we supposed to troubleshoot when we don't see the subversion or correct dates in history?!  I really dislike forced firmware updates!

  • I was having trouble with "invalid certificate" and similar SSL errors for Facebook, Instragram etc.... It took me a few irritating months to figure out that having the "Local DNS caching" (BETA) feature turned on was causing the problem. Turning it off from the "Discover" page of the app solved the problem immediately. I hope this helps.
