eero Pro 6 and iPhone 12 Pro Max issues

I received my eero Pro 6 yesterday and set it up. I'm in a small NYC apartment (1000sq ft) and my iPhone is having issues staying connected to the eero when I'm in my office. I also have a MacBook and Xbox in the same room and both are working fine.

I've noticed that the iPhone keeps switching between 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz - I don't care which band it uses as long as it works. When the iPhone is on 5Ghz I hit 300mbps and on 2.4Ghz it's at 10-15mbps. Not even WhatsApp works properly.

Any ideas?

  • Try using the "Forget Network" feature on the phone in Wi-Fi settings for your home network. Then just reconnect (will have to re-enter the password).

  • I had tried that already. Unfortunately, it does not solve the issue. If I'm close to the eero the iPhone will be on 5ghz and the speeds are great. As soon as I move away, it drops to 2.4ghz and 10Mbps.

  • Thanks for sharing, I found a lot of interesting information here. A really good post, very thankful and helpful that you will write many more posts like this one.

  • Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks of back-and-forth with Eero, I was told to check with Apple.

What puzzles me is that my inferior Verizon router worked just fine with the iPhone in the same location...

  • Does anyone get the same speeds while on 2.4ghz vs 5ghz?

My xbox just switched to 2.4ghz and it is unusable. I restarted the Eero, it reconnected to 5ghz and the speeds were great again.

  • I am having a same issue. first time on I phone 11 and now 12. what's happening with me.. PrepaidGiftBalance
