can't access comcast email server

Suddenly comcast email stopped working.  eero router seems to be blocking.  Cellular connection on iphone works fine, but not wifi.  Tried rebooting router, tried adding domain to allowed sites.  No help.  Frontier fiber ONT (not Comcast internet).  Please help.

Try to find the URL for your email server, then add it to the list of allowed sites using the eero app on your phone.  Eero seems to block a lot of perfectly legitimate sites and you have to manually allow them.

There does not appear to be a way to do this unles I purchase eero secure, that’s not fair that I can’t retrieve email on 600 bucks worth of Routers from eero

The_Wolf If you are not subscribed to eero Plus there is nothing on the eero side that would be blocking that email server.  eero does not monitor where your devices go on the internet.  eero Plus is necessary to gain the ability to block anything.  As such without Plus you do not have the option to allow/exempt something from the Plus blocking.

If your email server isn't working on the regular eero network (without Plus), our first suggestion would be to change your DNS servers.

      Go to eero app->Settings->Network Settings->DNS

Move the dot to Custom and put in the following data:

      IPv4 Primary: 8.8.8.8

      IPv4 Secondary: 8.8.4.4

IPv6: leave blank and click Save in the upper right corner.

This will make the network reboot.

If that doesn't fix it up please call support.

My eero router was installed as part of installing Frontier fiber internet service. It apparently came with Eero Secure. I soon found that every time I did a Google search and clicked on one of the sponsored ads the site was blocked. I had to go in to the "Advanced" section and specifically allow sites like ad.doubleclick.net and googleadservices.com before the annoying behavior stopped. So the router indeed appeared to be blocking some sites by default.

Windrider My comment to that was directed to The_Wolf  and their situation.  They don't have eero Plus and thought they needed to allow something, which is not possible.

Regarding your situation, a lot of ISPs do include eero Plus/Secure automatically and the Ad blocker will block Google's Ad services by default (as it should).  You have found the correct work around if you want those to work.

Understand - but the original post was about Comcast email suddenly being unavailable.  I could access it with a cellular connection, but not through wifi.  So I figured it must be a problem with the router.  Maybe a coincidence, but when I tried some variations of the Comcast email server and added to the "Allowed" list it started working again and hasn't failed since.

That did nothing. If I go to cellular and bypass eero it’s load immediately. While on eero it just waits and waits until it fails. See photos.

i have deleted the app and reinstalled, Updated the phone os, reset mail servers just in case and verified correct,  again everything works when I bypass the eero network.

The_Wolf I would give eero support a call then, a deeper looks needs to be taken at this.

Spent most of the evening with Eero customer support. Found that the only way to make it work now is to out eero into bridge mode which I lose much functionality. Definitely something going on with the Eero‘s as I did not have this problem before.
