Slow Speeds

I just finished setting up my Eero pro with 2 beacons running eeroOS v3.19.0. The app is reporting 987 mbps download speed, but my laptop is only showing 198 on Ookla despite being 6 feet away from a beacon with direct LOS. Is that as much as I can expect?

  • Perhaps, based on your wireless environment and the client's wifi card.

    • SteeltownRiot wireless cards cannot do 2Gbps except under very specific conditions that can never be replicated in the real world. 200Mbps is likely very accurate for what your card is supporting in a normal WiFi environments.

  • cMoo92 you are correct. I was looking at the product collection which had 2.5GbE on the site I looked it up on initially, but on the manufacturers site is listed as up to 2.5GbE. My specific card is maxed at 867 Mbps, so if I was getting half of that I would be happy. Today, I am consistently seeing speeds in the 70Mbps range. I live in a split level and my office is just 50' away from my gateway with mostly the wide open entry way and a single wall between it and my portal.
