How do I manage security in bridge mode with xfinity router?

Xfinity has features that are disabled in bridge mode, including its "Advanced Security." I need suggestions about what I can use instead. My LAN includes both Mac and Windows machines.

  • Hello Carol in Chicago ,

Thank you for reaching out to us and welcome to the Community! eero itself comes with a firewall and your devices behind the eero network should be safe. Take a look at the link below, it should answer most of your security questions and concerns.

eero also has a feature that can provide additional security called eero Secure that you can subscribe to. Feel free to take a look at what it offers in the article below.

  • Everything I have read, both from Comcast/Xfinity and eero, says this does not work in bridge mode. I need to use bridge mode to use my Xfinity router, which is part of our 64 unit building's contract. So the stock answers do not solve my problem.

    • Hello Carol in Chicago ,

The only other option is to setup the eero in the DMZ of the upstream router. Most of eeros features are disabled when the eero network is placed in bridge mode, similarly to every router placed in bridge mode. If you are unable to bridge the upstream router or put the eero into the DMZ on that router then you can try and run the eero in double NAT, which can have its own problems, or run the eero network in bridge mode and use upstream security settings in the upstream router or other 3rd party security services.
