Which WiFi to connect

My wifi has two options. 2.4G and a 5G option. Which one should I use with my eero?

  • Hello Hershey1023 ,

I'm a little confused. The eero system is a router in itself and then broadcasts in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Can you describe what you are trying to do? It sounds like you are trying to connect an eero up to the WiFi of a non-eero network which will not work.

  • Pretty much title. I recently moved my router and modem closer to my PC so now I can connect via ethernet. Before I was just connecting via WiFi. But since I have a wireless adapter for my PC, I can connect via both WiFi and Ethernet. Is there any benefit to being connected to both?

    • Hello Farrellb ,

There is no benefit. Wired connections are almost always better than wireless connections. The only time a wireless connection might be better is if your ethernet is not rated correctly or is damaged. Always use wired connections when possible.

  • Each Eero 6 is a dual-band router, meaning it has a 2.4 GHz band and a 5 GHz band inside. Those are, essentially, the standards — 2.4 GHz is still cooking, but it's the legacy in terms of bands, while 5 GHz is faster with more capacity and the ability to deliver faster speeds.

    Thanks and regards
