Ethernet backhaul quality

Hi, first post here.

I'm using the eero Pro pack with ethernet backhaul in my apartment.

I've noticed that when an eero is connected with wifi I'm able to see the connection quality in the app. However when connected with ethernet you cannot see the connection quality, just that it is connected with wire.

I would very much like to have a similar indicator when on ethernet so I can easily see if there is a cable/switch issue resulting in slower speeds (i.e. am i really getting 1 Gbit from my cable/switch).

Really impressed with the Pro pack!

  • Yes! Some kind of indicator showing this for wired connections is very much needed.

  • I absolutely agree with this request. I’ve had my network start going slow randomly (even when all eeros and devices are hardwired), but get fixed with a reboot of eero. It would be nice to know where the weak link is. If I could see the connection between one eero and a switch, for example, is suddenly 100mbs instead of 1gbs, that would make fixing the problem much easier.

  • I agree. Just got the Eero Pro about a month ago, and the simplicity is a great (though I am a network pro) and I applaud your attentiveness to the product overall (two OS updates in the short period that I have owned it). I just would like to see more metrics about the wired connections and even the agreed speeds from the wi-fi connections as well would help.

The features in eero labs give me the impression that the platform is very open for new upcoming features.I am interested in what is to come.

  • At a minimum it would be helpful to understand if the Eero is connecting at 1 Gbps to a backhaul network or 100 Mbps.

Agreed. I’ve seen a number of people on the eero subreddit question why they were only getting 100mbps on a certain backhaul, and my suggestion they check the cable resulted in them discovering a bad connection.
