Eero certificate error
Why did I get this error message on my Ipad and what does it mean? I had recently blocked the device then re-enabled it and this showed up. Also is there any way to delete a device showing in "recently online"? I had my Ipad named and at one point I could not reconnect it. I finally rebooted the system it reconnected but did not reconnect as "My Ipad". It came up as an un-named device so now I show my Ipad connected and the previous named Ipad as a "recently online" device. Thanks
This is possibly due to a new feature Apple implemented on their devices called "Private Address". It makes it so when ever the device connects to a network it creates a new mac id and provides that to the network. Mac ids are how networks identify and assign IP Addresses to devices. This would be the first thing I would check in this instance. In your iPad goto Settings -> WiFi -> click the i for the details of your home network and disable Private Address. It will disable it only for your home network.
Recently online devices will fall off after about two weeks. But you can rename all devices on your network by clicking on the device to view it's details and changing the name there.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Yes I was was blocking it on eero network on and off several times but it was not blocked when certificate error popped. I’m sure it was related but since I stopped intermittently blocking it error has not returned. I am concerned with people trying to hack into our network as we have some unscrupulous neighbors who engage in unsaid illegal activities and they know we have security cameras. Please elaborate on how secure eero is? Is it more secure than me using my previous WiFi direct from my Verizon G1100 router. I’m worried they can hack network and intercept my Ring camera signals. Anything you can tell me to assure me the network cannot be hacked or interfered with would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help and expertise.
