Ad Blocking: What Am I Doing Wrong?

Got several new Eero Pros installed the other day. The overall experience has been pretty great. The only thing that just plain doesn’t work no matter what I do is ad blocking.

I’ve toggled it on and off, rebooted everything, etc. Web pages still load with plenty of ads and the number of ads blocked shows 0 on the Activity section of the app.

Everything is updated to the latest version. I’ve turned off IPv6, band steering, DNS caching, SQM, etc. Basically, I can set everything back to defaults, and ad blocking still does nothing for me. I have not created user profiles or enabled content filtering. The features appear independent in the app.

Anyone else run into this issue? I used to have network-wide ad blocking when using DD-WRT. Would love to have it again.

  • If you’ve had it turned on for at least a day, I would expect it would be working for you. I wouldn’t trust the “activity” dashboard to immediately show anything. I’m not sure how frequently it updates, but it’s not “live.”

    Maybe try leaving ad blocking on for a day, then check your activity dashboard the next day and see if it’s blocking anything. The ad blocking won’t catch everything, but in my tests and experience, it does a pretty good job.

    If after a day it’s still not working, email eero support so they can look into the issue for you.

      cMoo92 I think I’ve had it left it on for at least a day, but I’ll avoid messing with it today. See if there are any changes tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for responding.
