Ring Chime Pro suddenly shows as 2 devices

Overnight my Chime Pro shows as 2 separate devices with 2 different MAC addresses. One is showing on 2.4 and other on 5 network. Usually always showed as one device on 5 ghz. Is this normal to show as 2 separate devices with different MAC addresses?  Using Eero Pro 6. Thanks.

    Hello,

It is possible if the device had different network cards for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. But unlikely. Have you tried restarting the eero network and disconnecting and reconnecting the Ring Chime Pro? Sounds like there is an error on the reporting of connected devices as the Ring Chime Pro should not be able to connect to 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz at the same time.

Let me know if you're still having difficulties and we can continue troubleshooting,

    James

I unplugged the Chime and it now shows as one device connected at 5 ghz. Strange but solved for now. Could it be one device was connected to the Chime at 5 and the other at 2.4? I do have a doorbell and camera connected to the chime. Thanks

Showing it again. After a power outage connected at 2.4. Rebooted Eero, ran Eero update and reset Chime Pro but still connecting at 2.4. The MAC address of 2.4 and 5 each have there own MAC address as shown in Eero app. Is it connecting to 2.4 because that’s what is sensing as best or is there a problem with the chime? The Chime is only 10-15 feet away from the Eero. Thanks.

A mesh network creates multiple points of access to distribute wifi signals and keeps each signal strong.

Now it seems to be only connecting to 5G. It’s dropping signal occasionally but reconnecting within a minute. As far as showing as two separate devices I have a possible answer. When it was connected at 5G I named it Chime 5. Another time it was connected at 2.4g and I named it Chime 2.4. Since I named each separate maybe the eero sees each speed as a separate device? Thanks
