Losing wired connections
I have an ATT cellular modem connected to a Eero Pro Wifi Mesh system (2nd gen). I have the ATT device connected by Ethernet cable to the primary Eero router in my attic closet. My attic Eero is connected to an unmanaged netgear switch. That switch is connected to various places across the house. Two of those connections are to the master bedroom and a garage apartment. Those wall jacks are connected to additional Eeros. All via Ethernet cables.
When initially powered on and hooked up via the attic switch - both additional Eeros show a wired connection but then will switch to wireless after a few minutes. I tried different network switches in the attic, but the same loss of wired connection occurred.
Had a couple calls with Eero tech support but no solutions so far. Any advice would be appreciated. Thx!

I’d put my money on the issue being that either the switch is only 100Mb instead of gigabit, or you have Cat5 cable(s) instead of Cat5e or Cat6 somewhere in the chain. This would also cause the connections to be limited to only 100Mbps. Therefore, the other eeros would figure out that they would have faster speeds on the backhaul by going wirelessly than using the Ethernet connection.

Hello,
It could also be a bug with your app. If you click onto the eero and view the details of the eero does it show as wired or wireless?
Edit: If you do a few speed tests from a device connected to those eeros is it similar to the speed you get when connected to the Gateway?
Thank you,
James

They initially show a wired icon and then flip to wireless. And the detailed page for the Eero matches and then flips.
I think speeds are generally the same but would have to check and there is some variability because it’s cellular. Generally 25-100 MB/s. The garage is farther away from the main gateway so it really needs to operate on a wired basis. Much less stable on wireless because of distance.

I am having the same issue after upgrading from Eero/Eero Pro routers to Eero Pro 6 routers. Same topology and network settings. I never saw this issue with the Eero/Eero Pro routers over many years and it's happening constantly with the new ones.
Basically the non-gateway wired router loses its connection:
- Eero pro 6 - gateway - wired (no issue)
- Eero pro 6 - wifi (no issue)
- Eero pro 6 - wired (loses connection)
I'm using 2 NetGear GS105NAv5 switches and cables are Cat 5e or above. All of this hasn't changed recently.

Hey the same thing is happening to me. Have my main Eero I'm using as the router. Cable goes to switch. Cable from switch goes to Eero 2 in another room. Cable from Eero 2 goes to switch 2. Cable from switch 2 goes to eero 3.
When I restart the Eero's they start off wired but then after ~10 minutes they move back to wireless. When they are in the wired backhaul the speeds are much faster near the nodes so not sure what is happening.
Am on the latest software 6.11.1

I'm having the same issue. From time to time my Eero 6 (cable from modem to Eero 6-Ring Base and from Eero6-Ring Base to switch) loses wired connection to the switch. I've called Eero support to claim a defective unit but was given the run-around. So far it has happend a few times and after a few hours the connection seems to spontaneously come back up.

There is definitely something weird with how Eero handles wired vs wireless connections. A recent update broke SMB ports for me. My NAS is connected to an unmanaged switch directly to the base station. Wireless devices could access the NAS via smb just fine, but wired devices on the *same* switch could not. Adding port forwarding for the SMB port fixed it which is nuts. External port forwarding should not be needed for internally connecting from one wired connection to another on the same switch. Eero clearly have some work to do here and I believe must be doing more thorough quality control in testing their updates on wireless devices but have massive gaps testing wired devices.

I recently switch my setup to an eero 6+ and initially though I was losing my mind with this issue. I have a few Netgear and TP-Link gigabit (unmanaged) switches and any of them when plugged into the eero gateway will 'lose' connection randomly. The wired connection could last from minutes to days. It's all very random. When it happens the switch shows all the ports are still connected on gigabit and have activity on them from the indicator lights, but nothing on the switch can get to the internet. They can however talk to each other locally (connected to that same switch) which shows the switch is still working as designed. I also use eero with wired backhaul and the other eero's lose that backhaul connection too and revert to WiFi when the gateway eero drops the switch's connection. To me this proves without a doubt it's the connection on the eero gateway that is the problem. While all these shenanigans are going on the the erro's ethernet port all my WiFi devices continue to work just fine and have no issues at all with internet connectivity regardless of which of the erro's they are on.

Seems to be an ongoing issue with EERO devices and not being resolved. I have an Eero (new) device connected to a Fision modem modem. The Eero device is connected to two Netgear unmanaged switches, one local and the other about 50 ft away.
The system works fine for a few days and then disconnects ALL wired connections. When Eero device is restarted and switches are restarted system is ok again for a few days then REPEAT.
VERY frustrating!

I have this same problem, a eero B010001 plugged into a tp-link 8-port switch. But it has been working fine for years until this morning when all the devices through the switch were offline. I assumed it was the switch and got a new one. Didn't fix the problem. Now I can unplug my desktop and plug it back into the switch and it seems to come online for a few minutes then drops off. I swapped my cat6 cables but didn't fix. There was an update for the eero's available and I installed, still the same problem now.

Yeah mine still comes and goes, it's generally been better but I it's certainly not solid. In the end I just use wifi on my laptop instead of a wired connection which is dumb but it solves most of my problems. On an unrelated note - I had to turn off IPv6 so that my wife's iphone worked better. It might be worth trying that here too if you haven't - totally different issues, but they are really the only two issues I have (apart from my neighbor with a shared wall also having eero and the two systems trying to use the same channels - why don't they coexist better?)

PROBLEM SOLVED! In my case it was a faulty device (T-Mobile CellSpot) connected to an ethernet switch. This only affected the ethernet connections and not WiFi and presented at random times after rebooting everything. The device was apparently sending a vast number of DHCP requests to the router which eventually flooded the device with data and caused the issue. Removing the faulty device resolves all issues. If we had access to the data logs then we could have resolved this matter very quickly.
