IOT issue

I recently bought a high-end Taurus Treadmill with an entertainment console which uses wifi. However, I cannot get Eero to allow it access to the internet. It WILL give it an IP address and if I attach an ethernet cable to an eero box and terminate with an old wifi access point it WILL allow access then. I can't find the Wifi security level info for the treadmill on google or it's user's manual. I suspect it's WPA2 or similar, but why then would it allow access using an ethernet cable and 3rd party wifi point through the eero?
