Voice Assistant Will Not Turn On

I have connected the eero Android app to my Amazon account and now when I try to enable Voice Assistant it will turn on then turn off right away. I have the skill in my Alexa app and in the Alexa app I can control WiFi there. Is there something I am missing?

Thank you.

  • Hello,

I am not aware of any setting within the eero network that would prevent you from activating Voice Assistant. Sometimes settings like this can have issues changing until the device accessing them logs back in. Have you tried restarting the Alexa app?

    Thank you,

    • James Wilcox Hello. I am having the exact same problem as blackneuron is having. I toggle the voice assistant in the eero app and it immediately toggles off. This also happens with the device name-sharing feature as well. Please help, thanks.

  • You hear that Eero support? Yet another person is having issues with features that you promote. Please fix quick! Thank you.

  • I wish i had seen this before buying. I'm having the same issue and cannot use my Zigbee hub because of it. On with tech support now and they're stumped. My favorite thing was asking me to restart all of my 9 or 10 alexa enabled devices at once.

    • MattATX  Yeah it does suck that both features are busted. I cannot believe they asked you to restart all your devices at once. That makes zero sense; the number of devices has nothing to do with the eero's functionality. These two features obviously worked at one point, they need to go back to when it worked. I personally don't really care about the voice support but definitely want the device name sharing.

mtweisenbarger  they're now telling me it's with the alexa app. even though it's clearly with their app. I'm now on a three way call with tech support for alexa and eero

now the best part is trying to get the amazon person to understand that Eero isn't a third party device, but is amazon

blackneuron do they have zigbee built in?

      Like
    • blackneuron they may not but I hear they are dissapointing with their speeds and multi device handling. Go with Netgear. More expensive but handles best. I would have gone that route but wanted to try Eero first.

    • MattATX no I'm pretty sure they don't have zigbee. Google really restricts their stuff.

  • MattATX does not look like it. I currently do not have a hub since I have an old eero.

    mtweisenbarger Good looking out.

  • REALLY wish I would have read this either before buying, or before installing/linking a bunch of my devices to an eero system.  Hopefully they'll fix this bug.

    • Nick I completely understand. It is disappointing buying a product that promotes features that don't even work. Thankfully, they are what I consider to "additional but not necessary". I really struggled between getting Eero or going with Netgear. I kinda wish I had gone with netgear (despite how gosh awful they look) but I wouldn't ever use the voice features. So I'll stick with Eero myself. But still, they NEED TO FIX THIS!

  • Add me to the list of people with this problem.  It's not vital for me as we only have a few devices synced but it would be a nice feature to have.

  • I too am having this exact issue as described above as many others it seems.  We just purchased the 3 pack of Eero pro 6 from Best Buy, connected everything, performed all system updates and now neither Voice assistant nor Name sharing will activate via the Eero app.  You press the toggle, attempts to activate and then defaults back to disabled. I tried reinstalling the Eero app & the Alexa skill numerous times, with no resolution. My Alexa assistant was able to discover devices connected to my Eero and can be managed via the Alexa app. Please investigate this a.s.a.p as this was a selling point for me as my smart home is based around the Alexa eco system.  If this does not get resolved quickly, I have have to rethink this purchase.

Both my wife and I have Galaxy Note 10+ devices from Verizon, so unfortunately we no other mobile devices to test.

  • Same here. It also screws up the entire networks access to the internet during the non-latching settings toggling.

    A bit crap really!

SirEnzyme yeah, when I do that the toggle goes back to off, every time.

      Like
  • I was wrong. I thought the toggle stayed active, but if it did nothing actually changed. When I went back into the menu the toggle was off, and I couldn't duplicate the result

Then I went onto the eero subreddit and found this gem:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/eero/comments/lff94a/device_name_sharing_voice_assistant_settings_not/gmlr6a7?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

Those toggles have NEVER been active. The fact we can see them has just been a bug. ALL along
