  • they could easily allow their eero plus vpn to be the native vpn.....I would subscribe if the vpn and malware protection was native at the router level for all or any devices desired......

  • Add me to the list for native VPN support.  I'm considering getting rid of my eeros since I'd like secure access to my security cameras when I'm not home.

  • I use Private Internet Access as my VPN provider, Why am I continuing to use this inferior AP product that refuses to give it's subscribers minimal support or features. We are constantly reminded of "all" the "features" that have been requested and provided, when in reality all the "features" should have been provided to begin with..... in this modern age, the only reason why one would not provide VPN access to be used locally on your device is plain and simple GREED. PIA offers several ways to allow their service to work with a router. It is not that hard to implement. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/archive/forum/discussion/22597/routers-with-built-in-vpn-client-compatibility

Welcome to the Community, Roy Wells and thanks so much for taking the time to share your perspective with us! To provide some more insight and context, eero is a product we've designed, first and foremost, to be simple, straightforward, and satisfying to use for the average person who wants their WiFi headaches to be a thing of the past; in other words, creating an exceptionally reliable foundation from the start has been our focus, rather than matching every possible feature or function of other routers on the market.

Although I can understand the frustration that a desired feature hasn't been available from day one, we're still very proud of our Community here, and incredibly grateful to the users who have let us know directly what features they think will make eero the best product it can be – we have every intention to continue adding desirable, popular and useful features. The best way for us to do that is to hear suggestions, desired use-cases and the details of our users' situations that would make the feature valuable – constructive feedback is really the best way for us to know how to implement these features in a way that's useful to you as our users.

Past that, for users who require features that the eero currently doesn't support, we encourage you to take advantage of eero's flexibility solely as a wireless platform by using bridge mode with your favorite personal router. By using eero for the WLAN and your personal router for its preferred features, you get the best of both worlds, and don't have to skimp on the quality of WiFi in your home while still getting the advanced features that you value.

Thanks again so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, Roy, and we look forward to seeing everything you have to offer to the Community!

      Kindly,
      Drew, eero Community Team

Drew  Eero should provide this and other basic features. In today’s streaming nearly 100% would use it. I and 1000’s of others would subscribe to plus with native VPN and native DNS. As is, your plus is a worthless addiction

  • So.... I should take that as a “no, we are not going to help you with that, however here is a work around.“ ? Thank you I guess for the honesty. Just wish it would have been more clear before I spent this much money, that the eventual VPN solution would be so limited.

  • Seeing that Amazon makes money by selling you stuff and eero sold out to Amazon, it’s a pretty safe bet that native VPN support isn’t going to happen. Amazon needs to know your browsing history so they know what to advertise to you

Hortod1 VPN does not prevent knowing browsing history.

  • I'd be happy to pay for the VPN service... as I want to be able to use it from all devices on my home network, including my TVs (for streaming services), Alexa, etc.     A PC based VPN won't do this.. and I'd rather not have to add another piece of hardware to the network to provide VPN services.

  • Drew, you have in reality skirted the issue.  Would you please just state if adding Virtual VPN is or will be considered or is it a dead issue to EERO?  I’d like to know there is a possibility or if not, then i’ll Revert to an alternative.

  • I am awaiting the delivery of my Ubiquiti Networks EdgeRouter X to set up NordVPN/OpenVPN. I guess I'll try using the Eero in bridge mode and quit paying for the Eero Plus service. I cannot use Encrypt.me on all of my devices and I am tired of waiting for Eero to change.

  • Or just not use eero plus. Set bridge mode on eero and use a router that supports VPN like the Ubiquiti Networks EdgeRouter X. I don't understand why eero is so resistant to opening up true VPN. The encrypt.me is useless to me.

  • Thinking I'll go with an ExpressVPN App Linksys WRT3200ACM router from FlashRouters…. gives me a whole house VPN coverage with my eero APs just doing wifi.

    • mthomp3763 It really is too bad that eero forces us to spend more money on top of the premium price we paid for the eero to get the security we deserve. I do like the eero plus service except for the encrypt.me. So guess they're saving me a few bucks forcing me to bridge the eero system.

  • How is VPN at the router level not an option yet for Eero?  It's been available on lesser routers that cost wayyyy less.  Please develop this feature as an option.  I understand that the entire purpose of Eero is the ease of use but that shouldn't prevent the rest of us (loyal supporters) from getting "advanced" features such as VPN at the router.

  • I see simple whole-house “blanket” VPN connectivity as a popular growing security interest in both social and business circles.  And this is just in the USA; imagine the competitive advantage with this feature available as Eero expands globally.  The VPN market is booming with faster connectivity and unlimited bandwidth; smart home routers must adapt.  Stand out now with this. Thanks for a nice product.

  • So here we are at over 2 years of absolutely ZERO progress. All we have received is vague and pathetic lip service amounting to nothing... It is unbelievable that ANYONE would ever invest a dime in this antiquated technology or in a company that obviously is only in it to collect as much money as possible from their unsuspecting, loyal customers and never provide them with any improvements of value.

I mean we were given this pathetic list of "achievements" as some form of atonement for waiting so long, now we have waited another year and still no improvement.

I feel we should create a full campaign to warn off as many people as possible and prevent them from wasting and investing their $400 in this scam. Watch my post get flagged and "filtered" out. I am only speaking the truth, yes I am frustrated, I am disappointed, by I am even more upset by these GREEDY corporations lying to us and just taking our money with NOTHING in return but the bare minimum.

  • Native (whole network) VPN and DNS (External DDNS) are two features that should be standard or at the absolute minimum part of plus. Without, in the new streaming era and home camera and automation, the Eero is worthless as anything more than bridged WiFi.

      Same Here.

I just got an Eero Pro as part of the package my ISP provided. I disconnected my Asus to install the Eero, only to find I can run PIA on it. My Asus is at least 5 years old. I think this device is made for ISPs that don't want to field tech calls from users that don't understand router settings. Hence, very little capability for modifications.

  • I created a forum account just to say.... +1 on this. New eero owner and shocked it doesn't support something my 5 year old Asus router did out of the box.
