Eero Pro 6 & Thread

Just curious if anyone has a network using all Eero Pro 6 devices, and has been able to use Thread?

in the eero app, I was able to turn on Thread networking, but I get I error when I try to add a thread device.

Eero Support tells me that the Eero Pro 6 does not support Thread; only the “Eero Pro” units do. I find that odd, since Eero previously stated they were committed to supporting Thread, and that the eero app lets you activate Thread.

so I wanted to check with this group before I give up on Thread. Thanks!

I‘m unable to connect any Thread devices to my network using two Eero 6 devices.

It seems like Thread support is a bit unreliable at the moment.

Did anybody get it to work?

      Hello martindinicolino ,

When you try and add your Thread devices what is the message you are receiving?

Lets also be sure that we're following the directions in this article. https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000104706-What-is-Thread-

      James thank you for your reply;

I’m following the instructions on that article, but after tapping on start the process fails and i get the error message shown below.

This happens every time I try on both my phone and iPad, restarting my devices doesn’t seem to help, furthermore it happened on 6.4 and it persists after updating the eeros to 6.5.

I have a HomePod mini (which your colleagues reassured me would work) and the Nanoleaf essentials bulb the article recommends.

Hope this helps with solving the issue.

      Hello martindinicolino ,

I'm not familiar with every screen layout, so I just wanted to make sure as my iPhone looks different when I'm connected to my eero network. Was your phone connected to your eero WiFi when you did this? Also, I noticed that you have a vpn icon at the top, does that mean you had a vpn enabled on your phone when you tried to set this up? If so, did you try setting it up with the vpn disabled as well?

After I get the answers to those questions it might be better to pull you over to a ticket so I can review the network and get a better idea of what we're working with.

      James

Yes, I am connected to my Eero network and this happens regardless of the VPN being on or off.

      Hello martindinicolino ,

Alright, I'm going to need to dig a little into the network at this point. I will send you a message shortly with instructions on how to get an email to me so we can continue troubleshooting.

I have eero pro 6 (3 devices) and eero 6 (2 devices), I chooses eero as a mesh network while there are cheaper brands because of Thread support  since I have different products that supports Thread such as eve power plug, eve door sensors, Nanoleaf bulbs and 2 HomePod mini.

     I’m very disappointed :(

I have a case open with Eero support, it has been escalated to higher level of support. Awaiting their feedback

The conclusion we got to, is that if you are trying to use your Eero‘s Thread together with your HomePod‘s Thread capabilities you‘re going to have to wait for Matter to come out.
