Do I need modem ?
Hi i just purchased 3 x EERO 3 pro 6. My house has Telstra NBN with a Arris CM8200 modem at the end. Initially i had a Amplifi HD connected to the Arris no issues. I removed the Amplifi.HD and connected the Arris to the Eero. Using my phone gave it name and it sat there trying to connect to internet. Tried hours of various connection combos, and diffent eero still not connecting.
Am at a loss surely this is a direct link and should work like the Amplifi ? If not does this mean i also need ro buy a router/modem ...if so why ? Defeats the object doesnt it ??
Hoping.this isnt gonna be a costly exercise.

I had something similar with my iiNet Arris NBN. The Eero just wouldn’t connect to the internet when plugged in directly to the Arris. I tried a few hours of variation of settings, PPOE, etc but nothing. In the end I decided to just plug into the LAN port of my old TP link router and now I have a 2-NAT system with primary and secondary wifi. It’s not optimal, but I get the mesh I wanted and I can stick the old router in a box in the corner and still connect to it in case I want to look at any of the advanced diagnostics or change DNS settings etc.
if anyone else has found a way to connect directly, I would be keen to know!

A modem is required to connect to the Internet from your home or office. Your Internet service provider (ISP) sends you analog Internet signals, which a modem converts to digital Internet signals. A router converts and sends these digital signals to your devices. Modems come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
