Separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5.0 band
I work for an integration company and have installed eeros in at least 15 houses, but it seems I have to pull at least half of them. Savant Pro handheld remotes require a stand alone 2.4 SSID. When the SSID is a 2.4 and 5.0 mixed band, the remotes fall offline regularly. Since most of my clients are Savant users, they cannot be eero users until this feature is added.
Thanks for the time.

I just installed a new network using five eero 6 dual band gateway devices in bridge mode. I have four hard wired and one wireless. The ISP for this house uses a wireless point to point system that utilizes a 5 ghz transceiver. The Eeros are interfering with the transceiver and causing the service to drop. Your tech support says that there is no way to permanently disable the 5ghz radios in the eeros and there is no way to white list or blacklist channels on the eeros. Those would be the only two ways I know of to solve this problem. Evidently there is a way to disable the 5ghz radio for ten minutes for troubleshooting. If you can disable it for 10 minutes, you could disable it permanently but have chosen not to provide this capability. I don’t care how you do it, but please give me a way to instruct the eeros to steer clear of specific 5ghz channels. Doesn’t seem like a very big ask. Now I need to pull these eeros from this job and replace with another product that has the ability to do this.

I'll add to Ddetton. My provider gives me 400 Mbs. If I'm right next to the router, I'm on 5G and I get high 300s download. If I move just 20 feet away from the router, it switches to 2.4 and I get less than 50 Mbs. If eero can temporarily shut down 5G, there is no reason why 5G can't be permanently shut down. And if 5G can be shut down, there should be no reason why 2.4 can't be shut down. The way it is now, the eero system has really added nothing to my network. Very dissatisfied and disappointed.

I would like to add my name to this list. A majority of my IoT devices (partial list below) do not play well with mesh networks and/or require 2.4 GHz.
* Mitsubishi (Kumo Cloud), Sonos (Streaming services), Molekule, Nest (broadcasting issue), and others.
These issues seem to have gotten progressively worse over the past 12-16 months.

I was so sick of asking and waiting for Eero to make a change, I ended up throwing my euros in the trash and cut my losses. For nearly the same price I have installed a CAT5 system. in which I have full control of my SSID and what channels I want to use; Plus, I can create internet hot spots and add a Sur charge if someone wants to use my internet, among other fantastic things. Eero could have kept more customers and been more helpful, but they don't and I make sure I tell that to who ever asks me about wifi or internet. I went out of my way at Best Buy, to tell this lady about the way Eero works and conducts business, she did not buy the pods. GOOD JOB Eero!!

Add my voice to the chorus. Because of the lack of ability to shut off either Wi-Fi band permanently I’m experiencing regular dropouts of my Sonos stereo system (super annoying) and my smart bike trainer (which requires my phone to be connected to the same network band)… so annoyed that I want to throw my Eero system out.
it seems obvious that if they can shut 5Ghz off for 15 mins they can shut it off permanently…

I would like to at least be able to force a device to be 2.4 ghz. I have a doorbell that is having connectivity issues. The company recommended that I use 2.4 ghz. I can pause the 5ghz for new connections on the eero which is great but if the doorbell ever disconnects and reconnects it will go back to 5ghz. If you could specify just for a single device that you only want it on 2.4 or 5 ghz it seems like it would be useful.

So I have this issue with gen 1 wemo devices.
These had been working for a month or so, but something has happened either on wemo or Eero firmware that when both 5g and 2.4ghz networks are up, the wemo devices fall off the network.
Troubleshooting and turning off works until the 5ghz comes back online.
Y'all should test with wemo devices.

Please consider allowing a way to set a device to communicate at 5GHz band.
example: my Logitech circle view door bell is right next to my office but it only connects at 2.4GHz where previous router would allow me to set that MACID to connect 5GHz band.
doorbell video very choppy due to congested 2GHz network where all my other security camera would connect at 5GHz with much better response and video quality.

I also, might have to shut down and return my Eero mesh network. This impacts my VPN for work.
I work on a separate VPN for our lab, and what happens, is when the connection automatically drops down to 2.4 band, it disconnects me, and then it prevents me from being connected to the VPN again. Each time this happens automatically, I have to wait some time before I can connect again. This is a major failure, and impacts the ability to work quickly when working from home.
Unfortunately, the only way to solve this problem is by having different SIDS for the bands.

I was able to connect my eWeLink Sonoff Mini R1 WiFi switches with the steps below (as background, I had to use another router to create a 2.4 only wifi network for the switches):
1- delete the Sonoff switch from the eWeLink app, which resets it.
2-put the Sonoff switch in compatibility mode (hold button for 5sec, which puts it in quick pairing, then hold for another 5sec, which puts it in compatibility mode - blinks fast)
3-in the Eero app, go Settings -> Troubleshooting -> My device won´t connect -> Temporarily pause 5GHz and use Legacy Mode for WiFi 6 (this last one I dont know if it is absolutely necessary)
4-add the Sonoff switch again, but select Compatibily Mode (bottom of the Add Device screen). Sometimes it takes a few tries but eventually it works.
5-with my old Android device I couldnt do it, had to use an Apple iPhone to make it work.
6-once the Sonoff switch is added, you can activate 5GHz WiFi again in the Eero app.
So now I dont need this second router, and also dont need the WiFi extenders (live in a two story apartment so my router wasnt reaching all the 7 Sonoff switches I have).
Hope this is useful.
