Lutron Caséta Wireless Support in Gen2 eero

In order to use one of these smart switches with my iPhone, it says I need a bridge. But Gen2 eero is supposed to have a bridge built in. Will eero's bridge work with these switches and other products?

  • Nope. The Gen2 eero had Google Thread support added. Lutron ClearConnect uses a different protocol and a different frequency band.

  • You can, however, buy the Lutron Smart Bridge that will allow them to connect to your eero’s WiFi network: http://www.casetawireless.com/pages/products.aspx

Many smart home hubs will also enable this, like Wink. I use Wink as a smart home hub and my Lutron and Leviton lights connect to it directly then to my eeros through Wink.

    Hope that helps!

Michael thanks for taking the time to post this. I want to use connected devices without having to buy, setup and maintain hubs/bridges for various devices. I need one to bring my garage door opener into the HomeKit world, which will bring Leviton devices with it but not Lutron. It quickly becomes expensive and complicated. Part of the promise of these new eeros is being able to avoid that so I want to stick to devices supporting eero directly.
