How do I block a website for a specific user?

I have profiles set up for all devices in the house, but want to have the ability to block specific websites for specific profiles (otherwise I'd ditch Eero plus and use an OpenVPN solution - but would rather this be user-specific)

I agree, this is needed.  Only way around it is to use another device on your home network called Circle by Disney.   U can block the traffic by app name and per users.

eero, while e-plus is nice consider the other apps that we get access to for 99 bucks is nice.

    Hi, vtcc93 and uwavegeek –

Thanks so much for your feedback, and welcome to the Community, both of you! We appreciate you taking the time to check in with us and share your thoughts on this feature. While we don’t have an update to share, we hear you and understand the benefit of custom URL blocking beyond the pre-set categories. Given the feature's status as "Under Consideration," it’s something we're continuing to evaluate and explore. That said, unfortunately we don’t have a timeline to share at this time.

I encourage you to visit our active Feature Request Thread for this feature and vote on it, as well as share any additional feedback or use-cases as the feature applies to your home – hearing your thoughts is incredibly valuable to our team, and helps us continue to improve eero. Thanks again so much for sharing your thoughts, and I hope you enjoy your time in the Community!

    Kindly,
    Drew, eero Community Team

Why is this marked as answered?

Most of us have purchased this annual service, but one of the number one features is still not supported (or appears to be on the radar to add as a feature). I really hate to do this, but I might start looking elsewhere for something as simple as IP/domain blocking by internal user device :(

Thanks for taking the time to post Jeff C – we appreciate having you here!

This particular thread is marked as "Answered" because we're in the Q&A section of the forums, and the answer for the time being is, unfortunately, that domain/site-specific blocking isn't available via eero Plus. That said, it looks like you've already found the Feature Request thread, so we encourage you to check back on that thread periodically for official updates about the implementation of the feature. Please rest assured that we're aware of the demand and usefulness for such a feature, and we're continuing to actively explore ways that we can implement it for use with eero Plus!

Thanks again for taking the time to reach out, and welcome to the Community!

      Kindly,
      Drew, eero Community Team

The ability to block youtube is a critical parenting feature.

I'm ready to cancel the service too, not enough control.  Supporting the ability to schedule Youtube, fortnight time etc is critical to enforcing screentime for kids.  Is there an ETA to release the schedule or should I cancel the service?

It's amazing that Eero has this many parents crying out for an obvious and not-so-complicated feature and they won't deliver. Makes me wonder where their funding is coming from.

If I can't block TikTok within a month, I'm cancelling Eero too. This was one of the most obvious reasons I bought a system like this and it clearly isn't delivering the features people need.

This is such an important feature to add.  Being able to narrow access down to help kids manage the distraction potential of the web is key.  Like being able to turn off YouTube for a while when they are doing homework.  Great need.  Can get it elsewhere but why not here?  Having a non transparent filter set by eero not that helpful.

    eero and community,

So as of Dec 2019, the ability to block specific websites does not exist within eero.  What have users done to resolve (or work around) this in the short term?  Clearly we are in a school year now and need to do something asap then waiting for software enhancements.    Do we use a VPN?  If so, which ones work best with eero?  Can the eero dev group give us some type of guidance to work with this current gap?    (I work in software dev and we do this all the time for current product gaps).

Seems users have been asking for this feature for two years - Its important and your competitors are offering it. I would suggest you move quickly as Google, Netgear and others offer this ability. One question I have is that domains can be blocked at the router level - what would happen if a router connected to the internet (a bridge) and then connected Eero? The idea being that the router could then block specific sites - and sites that are not blocked could leverage the speed and utility of the Eero mesh network?

eero, any update on blocking specific sites like youtube? It's been a year since I posted the request. Seems like the feature ask is a theme looking at the other requests

    eero - wake up!

We are in a new day in age where our children are learning at home - they finish a school meeting and all of the sudden fire up mine craft and youtube and as a result they get in trouble later.  As a responsible manufacturer and developer of this equipment, you need to unlock this feature.  COVID-19 demands it.   Get with the program, this should not be a difficult task to simply block a domain and/or URL from specific devices and/or family profiles.  Lets go!

GotGrit btw - the 30 dollar routers can do this without any subscription fees, there is no excuse.

Just unplugged my Eero’s and plugged in Orbi. HUGE difference!! Much better control over what my kids can do/see. If you didn’t know, Orbi has “Circle” built-in/on-board. Too easy now to control time spent, sites visited, and other features...all built in.

This is starting to become a critically needed feature. It's disappointing Eero hasn't caught up with modern times yet. I've been a staunch supporter of Eero but the lack of updates and control for Eero Secure are discouraging.

Eero! Please make some improvements in this area soon before you lose all your customers. I don't want to leave Eero but competition is looking better and better.

I wish I had found this thread before investing in Eero, not blocking sites has become crucial during the pandemic, where my kids have to have access to electronics but I don't want them on Youtube and other sites.  I'm beyond my 30 day return date. :(  Guess I'm going to have to see them at a loss and move to Orbi.
