Administer through a Web Browser

Every router that I've worked with has had a web UI. The fact that I can administer our eero network only through the mobile app is inconvenient and limiting. Additionally, my wife set up our eero but when I went to set up the eero app on my Android device, the setup procedure did not graciously take into account that the network is already tied to an app. The eero network needs to allow for more than one connected app.

While i do understand not having a web UI has security benefits, recent destruction of my smartphone has left me unable to block/unblock devices my son uses. To turn on devices i was manually blocking, I had to install the app on his phone since no web UI. Now he can turn on his devices anytime, even family schedule devices, hence the wolf is guarding the hen house.  I will have to change the password when i get set up on new phone but would have been nice to gain control of my eero without having to set up the app on his phone.

Hi, jyoung – Thanks for taking the time to share your concerns with us, and welcome to the Community. I definitely understand the inconvenience and limitation that comes from not having access to a smartphone for administering the eero app, so here a couple potential workarounds for you.

First off, if you have an Android or iOS tablet, you can use the eero app on that device even without a phone, as long as you log in to the app via your email address. If that's not an option, and you have to use your son's phone for the time being, there's no need to remain logged in to the app – when you're finished making adjustments, you can go to the "Account" portion of the eero app to log out until the next time you need to access the app.

Past that, while I unfortunately have to confirm that we're not considering a web UI for the time being, we absolutely appreciate you taking the time to share your situation – hearing examples from users like yourself give us a lot of insight into ways we can continue to make eero better. Thanks again, and have a great day!

      Kindly,
      Drew, eero Community Team

I think you should probably be praising eero for electing to not expose admin access through a web browser; because after all, any intelligent hacker will take control of your own devices to do their dirty work—and therefore if eero had elected to add an admin portal accessible through the browser, regardless of whether it required a direct ethernet connection or not like Orbi’s, then hackers could still easily take over your whole network without you even knowing it.

Chase2981 - that is a horrible example and flawed response to a legitimate concern that the OP expressed. And demmith is correct, every single other manufacturer offers a browser UI, and having a web UI alone doesn't allow a hacker to take control of your devices!

Dear eero, your smart device setup and access to my three eero's is top notch, but put me down on the list also as I too want a web browser option for the same reasons as the OP (that is, not having ANY smart device available to me at the moment).

Just got my new service today....eero app is not compatible with my Samsung Galaxy S5. There is no way to get into the device. No browser option? Really?

I do not yet own an Eero system but as part of my IT support practice, I just installed my first Eero Pro 6 system for a customer. I was pleased with the ease of setup and performance, but also, am a bit concerned that there is not a web interface as a backup to the app. If a strong password is used and two-factor authentication is turned on, I really don't see a web config as a weakness.
But, if the advanced section of the app gives me everything I need, (haven't used it yet) for customizing DNS and editing the DHCP range, etc. then I won't really miss the browser interface. Some of my customers use VPN's and need to have a unique third octet in their private IP address for their LAN. in order for their VPN to always connect successfully. Also, some ISP's do faster lookups if you are able to edit the DNS and put in an alternative secondary DNS, like Google's 8.8.8.8.

@demmith, Did you try to login from a different device but with the same credentials your wife had set up? I am wondering if I set up a particular login, if I will be able to access it from both my iPhone AND iPad. In other words, is the limitation to one user? Or one device?

I think found the answer to my question about the ADVANCED section of the smartphone app and whether it will do what I need here: https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/207613326-What-advanced-features-does-eero-support-
It looks like it has what I need.

I have a slightly different situation.  I appreciate Eero's ease of installation, but for the advanced users among us, I would love if we could specify a different IP address for the Eero Gateway device (I'm running Eero 6's, not the Pro version).  I prefer to have my first device, my firewall, to have IP X.X.X.1, but the Eero Gateway device seems to want to own that IP address, and there's no way to change that in the app as far as I have been able to find.

I would echo the general requests, here: please consider a Web UI for advanced management.

Honestly if this were not the only viable internet service in my area I would leave the Eero system over the lack of being able to turn off 5g and have moderate access to your connection. I have a 500$ system I just bought to add into what I stream in VR with. It will not work with my network specifically because I cannot accesss a web interface that works with the system.

It's also something I can't return, so ... there needs to be user options for us to set up ports and static IP's for equipment we own. I'm paying 100$ a month for this system on top of that even if I set up my own router after the EERO i STILL cant set up a 2.4ghz wifi system that allows me to utilize my equipment. I'm in almost a thousand bucks to trying to fix the issue and the best answer is, we have no concern with allowing people to set up their own wifi.

    =\
