Ceiling Mount and POE adapter Eero Pro 6

Has anyone found a ceiling mount for the pro 6 or  POE adapter? If not, does anyone know if they are coming soon?  We had our new house wired for AP's, and I would love to be able to use the system the way we planned.

    Hello pinky75 ,

Currently, eero has no plans to implement PoE for the eero 6 line of eeros. PoE does not provide enough power for eero 6 units. You can review their power requirements on the link below.

James - thanks for the info. It's super unfortunate this can't be figured out. At least now I know for sure we will have to change systems.

Yes, PoE doesn't have enough power for the eero Pro 6, not even enough for eero Pro,  BUT PoE+ does, and I have the eero Pro 6 working with using PoE+ injector and PoE+ splitter. Now eero please stop making excuses and make an official PoE+ Splitter, and also while you're at it a wall mount for them as the third party ones look just awful.

thbrett Texas POE has saved my butt on more than one occasion! Just need a proper bracket.

Mike94ZLT1 What model? Because the ones I have seen online were only 25w and eero Pro 6 needs 30w according to the eero website and from what the eero techs have told me.

      thbrett PoE+ doesn’t deliver enough for Pro 6’s (27 W required vs 25.5 W delivered), but PoE++ can.

So it still stands for Eero — add PoE support and enable ceiling/wall mounts. I refuse to deploy APs anymore that don’t support PoE and it’s a shame that I can’t add Eero to my toolbox of options.

NickTX You say Poe+ does not work but have you tried? Because I have, and I have a LOT of them out there working just fine.

thbrett I’m saying you would be under powering the device per Eero’s specifications with PoE+. It may work but they’re never going to officially endorse it if the specs don’t show it.

Any news about existing eero PoE adapters working with the new eeros? Maybe just a replacement cover could be purchased?

This is simply not true. We mainly use Ruckus for our networking needs, but also offer Eero pro to residential clients who do not want to spend "Ruckus money" for their home network. There are plenty of network switches that can provide 30-60W of power per channel, as well as 60W POE injectors. I would use Eero more if the Pro6 model with a POE bracket was an option.

I do not like using Eero's wirelessly if I can avoid it. We use a separate router and either a powerful POE switch, or injectors and hard wire all of our Eero's using this POE bracket. We then put them in bridge mode and let the separate router handle DHCP, and it works amazingly well.

Mike94ZLT1  Can you share what router you use? Putting the Eero's in bridge mode loses the app's secure and profile functionality, so what do you have clients use for parental controls and security? Does the main router handle? What brand is the POE switch you use? Do you only use the pros or have you hardwired Pro 6s?

Thank you for anything you can share.

I use the eero Pro 6 connected to a switch as the router, I don't use bridge mode unless absolutely no other way.

thbrett That is what I currently do, but I have an install coming where if I could put an Eero pro 6 on the ceiling on both ends of the remodel, hard-wired and powered by POE, that would be great but seems unlikely to gain official Eero support anytime soon.  I may try to catch the electrician and see if he will add two outlets, and I'll figure out the bracket later.

I use the eero Pro Gen 2 PoE+ splitter with a 3rd party PoE+ injector to run the eero Pro 6 off of POE, been working good for me so far

thbrett do you mind sharing what you use for your PoE+ injector? Or if that's against the rules? New to this forum, but wondering why everybody says things in generic terms rather than what equipment they are actually using.

Sounds like you have it figured out! Glad it is working for you? If you can't give me the brand or model would you mind telling me what the stated power of the injector is?

Are you running it over cat5e, cat6 etc?

Any details y'all can give me is super helpful thank you so much and have a great weekend.

It's more of a workaround, as I would like eero to make a dedicated PoE+ splitter/injector set so I don't have to waste the wall mounts as they're useless to me, they also need to make a wall/ceiling mount for the eero Pro 6, having said that I used the eero Pro wall mount/splitter set, wired with Cat5 or Cat6, both have worked for me. I attached an official list from eero of suggested switches and injectors.

Good morning. I apologize for intruding on this thread. I’m not a tech professional and was referred here eero for help…. I recently moved into a new home that has been pre wired with 3 WAP point boxes in the ceiling with cat 6 cables in the living room, back lanai and upstairs. Every room in the house has the tv wired with cat 6 cables. Everything leads to the master closet where there is a rack with a switch ( I think it’s called a switch) with 24 cables plugged in and the unversed 1000mbs AT&T modem /wireless router. I guess what I’m asking is from the pros on this thread, what do I need specifically to mesh my house with the eero pro 6 attached to the ceiling and using POE, POE+ or POE++. What do I specifically need brand of what I need and where to purchase? Injectors I’d necessary?  Thank you for any help

Interesting thread, I am not an Eero professional, but am an IT professional. My home network is driven by DLink POE+ switches (DSG-1100) which deliver up to 30w of power over ethernet per port with a total budget of 64-128 depending on ports. I am replacing my TP Link 1Gb WAPs with EERO Pro 6, but I hate the huge hockey puck power adapter as my home is wired for POE. Trying to figure out a power play, looking at the Texas splitters amongst others.

What I am understanding is that the Eero pro 6 can be powered by POE+ because it uses variable power consumption based upon demand, but will not get the max wattage to be full capacity because a POE+ 30w will not deliver the 27.5 or so needed for an Eero to be fully capable of broadcasting and receiving at distance or with many devices.

I think I will test this, the Eero pro 6 comes with many analysis tools. Will POE+ limit range, or capacity or throughput. Range is my guess, will order a 1Gb/POE+ splitter and test it.

Update, have also ordered a Netgear MS108EUP managed switch with 4 Ultra60 60w POE++ ports capable of powering my 4 IP cameras and 3 Eero Pro 6 APs. That's easy, but wow, okay, it is the receptacle as mentioned in earlier posts, looking at ugly Ultra60 splitters to split POE++ into USB-C. This meets the Eero Pro 6 power requirements but is a ceiling and wall mess. Still, this is better than paying an electrician to run 110v power, create an outlet in concrete and stone walls and run a EERO puck. YMMV, remember, I'm an amateur.
