eero Gateway Router needs a Web Interface

Hi,

Had I know eero could only be managed via a phone app, I would have never purchased it.  Please add web interface functionality for the router.  Even if eero turns out to be a good (or great) solution, I won't recommend it to anyone sans a web UI - in fact I'll steer them towards another solution.  Short of providing a web interface, you should, at the least, clearly label the retail box "eero can only be manged via a phone or tablet - not a desktop/laptop"...or something to that effect.  Had I seen that while shopping at Best Buy, I would have passed on eero.

If you're that concerned, just download BlueStacks and run the eero app on your desktop

christ110 Thank you.  That has been helpful, but not useful.

I am not sure what the benefits would be? Can you provide possibly benefits a Web Interface would give?

tcaleb46 I'm strongly considering giving up my smartphone entirely. It's very distracting, so I rarely have it on me anymore. When I want to admin my network, I'm always on my Mac and unable to, which seems backward. It's usually to disable adblocking, so I probably need to cancel the subscription and finally set up pihole/VPN.

CorgsinFrunk That is a choice, not a reason to have the web interface.

tcaleb46 And what if I never had a smartphone? I know people that don't. I used to be in IT and worked in a data center. I've never seen a router system without a web interface. Even cheap ISP routers have them.

The package on these should say, "requires an iPhone or Android device for administration" on the side. All it said on my box was, "Control your connected devices with the built-in smart home hub and Alexa app."

CorgsinFrunk And that is a good reason to have a web interface.

I am working on my computer and I don't want to pick up my phone to manage my network. Some of us consider a phone to be a phone, not a network management tool.

I agree there should be a web interface, instead of the currently limited  toy .   There has to be more functionality than what is available on the phone app.   If the product is limited to only function the interface is the one on the phone, it won't be long before someone "intrudes " on its services.

The system does not even give you the ability to turn off DFS , or lock to a specific channel. So, about 5 times a day it changes the channel its on, and most of the time it is to worst channel then it is current one.

I send a message to tech support and the reply and they wanted to know what the current speed of my systems were and what was it's name .

I agree there should be a web interface or a desktop app

    Its been ~ a year!

By now eero could have told us that this request made into some stage of validation with the feature/dev-team or got rejected.

Guess I will have to look into more robust solution providers.
