Port Forwarding

I am trying to open a port 8089 to access my own search engine SearXNG running on a raspberry pi. I set it up in Eero, but it does not seem to be working. I checked with canyouseeme.org and it gives me the reason as - connection refused. What am I missing? Thanks

  • Hi scennimo

I would strongly advise you give eero support a call, getting a look at live data is very beneficial in these problems.

However, for port forwarding issues the first thing you want to do is see if you can access that port from inside the network first.  If you can't the device isn't setup right.

If you can check the device upstream of the eero.  If that is a modem/router combo, and the router is still enabled or the eero isn't in passthrough mode, likely you need to open those same ports on that router and point them to the eero.

Make sure, for thoroughness, to reboot the eero too after setting up the port forwards.  This shouldn't be necessary but it sometimes helps.

  • I believe I have this set up correctly but still no good. One question that I forgot to ask. Do I have to have eero plus for port forwarding to work?

    • scennimo No, eero Plus is not required for port forwarding to work.  It is required to run DDNS through eero

Michael_eero_support So what am I doing wrong? I believe it is setup correctly in Eero. My ISP has port 80 and 25 closed. Does 80 have to be opened (for web pages) for other ports to work? I had no problem with my old router/setup accessing my servers and security camera's. I have no-ip for ddns but I also have tried with my external ip address :port number. Any help would be much appreciated.
