Moving — do I need to do anything when setting up my eeros in my new home?
In a couple weeks, I am going to be moving into a new home. I just got my eeros, but wasn't sure if there is anything I am going to need to do to get them back up and running? Thanks!
Thanks for reaching out!
When moving, you can keep your current network that you created through the eero app. This will allow you to keep all of your settings, such as Family Profiles created, named devices, and custom configurations like IP reservations and port forwarding.
However, since placement is important to ensure your network is working as intended, we suggest that you remove any eeros from your network with exception to the one connected directly to your modem (you need to keep this eero set up to avoid deleting your entire network). To remove an eero from your network, tap the individual eeros at the bottom of the My network screen of the app. You will see an option at the bottom labeled Remove eero. From there, remove the eero from your network.
Once you are ready to get everything back up and running, connect your modem and eero via ethernet, and then proceed to boot up your modem. Once your modem is fully booted, proceed to plug in your primary eero. As soon as your network is online, you will notice the LED in a solid white state. You can also check by opening the eero application and seeing the status as online.
To add the other eeros to your network and complete your home WiFi system, tap on the Add eero button at the bottom of the My network section. Follow the steps as instructed to add each eero and have it properly connected to your network.
If you do experience any issues with getting your eeros set up, such as the chance there is an issue with a new Internet Service Provider, you may need to delete your network and start from scratch. This will delete all your customer settings, including Family Profiles, named devices, and various configurations including IP reservations and port forwarding.
*Pro-tip: To avoid going through troublesome device setup screens for your various devices, use the same Network Name and Password as your previous network! This will allow your devices to automatically reconnect (unless they needed customer configurations)*
To get started, open the eero application on your phone and take the following steps:
- Open the menu from the top left corner of the app.
- Select Network settings.
- Scroll down and select Advanced settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and select Delete your network.
Once you are ready to get your new place connected, open the eero application and follow the prompted steps.

Jeff, what do you mean by the above? Do you mean that the old port mappings and IP reservations are carried forward if one uses the same network name? Or are you talking about connecting leaf nodes? Thanks.Reply
Thanks for chiming in and welcome to the eero community!
I really appreciate you bringing this question to the topic, and I've edited the post above for further clarity. Since custom settings are associated with the specific network and not the user account, deleting a network would remove any configurations like IP reservations and port forwarding.
The steps above have also been changed, as the previous recommendation was for more severe cases versus what we recommend doing first.
Thanks again, RUEHC! We are thrilled to have you here!Reply
